Sorry but thats a 75-76 grille (offset hood release). 73-74 was the recessed grille.

Your shorty is looking good, i agree with the chrome grille brightening it up a bit.

Don't know how GM sold it to your family, But....They couldn't put a later model grill (before even building it) into a 73/74 truck.

This IS a nos 73/74 grill without a doubt.....

You also have clear turn signals. It could be a very early production 75 that was titled as a 74.

I know gm raritys, we have a ton, including a 56 chevy bus with a v8 that chevy said they didnt make (didnt "start" v8 buses till 57) but our vin code states a 56 v8 bus, as well as a 68 c40 tilt cab that they say never made production.

the clear's are LMC, but yes, a early 75 titled as a 74 is more practical...

more practical than aliens changing grills back in time.

heres another stumpper for you "milestone foot steps of chevy makes"... mine dose not have the header tube pick up for smog, instead it was collector.
It also has the impossible to find no ac dash bezel, /w/ "cigarette box holder"

bigons be bigons, records of what year came with what is always in-accurate. (just ask kragen)
Im telling you how we bought it off the lot. Unless the boys in the back of the dealership got bored and decided to make a Frankenstein to screw with people years down the line, chevy did what they want, when they want.

sorry to hi-jack hahaha

spinem... your headlight bezels are not '79 either. '79 has the chrome bezel that goes around the turn signal also.

Re: Got a 77 today

Well boys, here are some pics. I came in and saw your replies when I got home from work and I figured it was in my best interest to run out and take a few more pics before I was on the bad end of some sort of angry mob.

The truck had a frame-off in 05. It was then daily driven for a year or so. 50k on the rebuilt 350. It needs some odds and ends like a hood, grill, interior stuff, bumpers, etc. The truck is mostly all there though. My intentions are a few bolt-ons, maybe a slight drop, tires and wheels, interior work, and a lot of clean up work and detailing.

The timing was good because my daily driver is down (lifted 04 wrangler) so I am driving the truck. Bad thing is... I am daily driving the truck in the winter.
