Serpentine questions
I have a few questions about my serpentine setup which came off a 88 s-10.
#1 Do I need to have the idler that goes where the arrow is pointing? If so where can I get one? #2 How do I route the belt on this set-up? And does anyone have a part number that will work? I bought the belt for a 88 s-10 and it was way too short. Thank you for looking. If it wasnt for this website, I would have quit a long time ago.

Re: Serpentine questions
You do not need an extra idler pulley.
Look at the diagrams part way do this page for routing: http://www.2carpros.com/forum/1990-c...-vt132692.html For my belt I just ran a string and measured. Then got a belt that length. There are so many different serp bracket setups that its hard to do part numbers. What water pump are you using?

Re: Serpentine questions
When I did mine- I wasn't sure if I needed that pulley or not. The GMPP kit comes with it- so I figured I'd better get it. I got mine from the local stealership but the link below has them for about 10 bucks less. If you do use this idler- get a Gates #K060970 belt. If you opt not to use it.....I am no help to you, cause I don't know what the correct belt would be.

Re: Serpentine questions
jackyl9999, I'm also in the process of installing a serpentine system in my truck. What A/C compressor are you using with your setup?

Re: Serpentine questions
I think you could get away with out it but with it you have that much more belt contact with the pulley. If you didn't have A/C I'd go without. I have the same setup on mine and I used the idler. I used a K060935 belt and then a 940 which is 1/2 shorter than a 935
