3 speed manual problem

truck only has 54K on it. I got it running good and started driving it some. Im noticing that it often jumps out of first gear? 3 on the tree. This truck has hardly been worked, clutch grabs like a new car so its leading me to believe its linkage. If I hold it down in first gear it doesnt do this.
I dont get to work on it but every few weeks so I'd like to narrow down things to look at. thanks.

Re: 3 speed manual problem

Certainly resolve any linkage issues first. If it still has the problem after that, you will have to go inside the box for a look. I suspect worn parts, especially if it jumps out of gear under load, rather than on deceleration.

Re: 3 speed manual problem

I've looked at it briefly, linkage. Just think its odd this truck with this low of miles is having this issue. (originally purchased to haul golf clubs to country club)I have other trucks with 200K on them that don't do this.

Re: 3 speed manual problem

I will have to do this next time Im there. I know these 3speeds are tough and with that few of miles my gut says linkage.
