Re: 68 LB 396 truck a good deal?

from what gets said about cali trucks, probably not worth it.
HOWEVER... it is a big block truck, with many good parts....
over here, that's a 1500 - 2000 dollar truck as it sits, even on the soft market.
Better make sure you can get a title for it before doing anything at all.
But... if you don't want a LWB, then you defenatly don't want a 3/4 ton with HD leaf springs.

Re: 68 LB 396 truck a good deal?

What do you mean by Cali trucks?

Unless it is from around the bay or coast they usually have less body cancer than most MANY other locations.

I always though inland California cars made them a preferd choice. Please enlighten me.....

I know what you mean about the 3/4 though,...I may end up selling my 67 3/4 LWB 4x4...

Cali trucks are awesome awesomeness... and that one is rather beat up, parts missing, filler cracking.... other thsan the big block, it isn't worth jack by cali standards.
I don't know how you go about getting title work straightened out in cali... you'd have to talk to locals, or the DMV... or there www.

Re: 68 LB 396 truck a good deal?

yeah the lack of a title would make me kinda back away... just my .02

it depends on what your plans are... if it just gunna be a parts truck for you then jump all over it, if you looking to fix-er-up and make that truck run, id make sure the papers will sort themselves out before purchasing..

by the way, thats like a 3000 dollar truck up here

Re: 68 LB 396 truck a good deal?

See if the intake has been swapped out, if not that is sort of rare as a 2 bb big block, the only thing that is equally uncommon is the three speed big block. If therewas a build sheet indicating 2 bb you may have found something odd ,don't know that it would help value however....

Re: 68 LB 396 truck a good deal?

I would consider it a parts truck since the big block and sheet metal have some value. However, without clean title, I would not bother buying it to restore, especially since it is a 3/4 ton and longbed.

Re: 68 LB 396 truck a good deal?

Someone blew some smoke up his a##...and now he thinks he has a gold mine! Maybe he found the title since there is no mention in the new ad. Looks like he tried to clean it up as well.

Opps...noticed it is a new owner...that explains everything!

Re: 68 LB 396 truck a good deal?

Yeah,.....Brian sold it and the new owner said it was a parts truck for a 69,but instead he tried to flip it without even washing it down.

I was thinking about putting in a running motor/trans, seat and glass and ask for 2 for it with a tittlte.

lol....cracks me up
