grrr, dang reproduction parts

well for made in Taiwan it's as expected, poor quality. here's my new repro rear bumper. looks ok, kinda cheap, and terrible gaps. the bumper brackets from lmc need to be slotted where they bolt to the frame so i can slide the driver side forward, guess i'll have to modify them a little. well i guess you could blame the gaps on the brackets and then the bumper's pretty good.

Re: grrr, dang reproduction parts

it's bowed in the picture but not really in person. that's weird. i figure if the bed bolts are in it's on right, but after 30 minutes to slot the bumper brackets i got a nice even gap between the bumper and body now.

Re: grrr, dang reproduction parts

Are the brackets supposed to be slotted by the installer, or are they meant to line up with some existing holes in the frame with no mods?

Re: grrr, dang reproduction parts

they were supposed to line up, but they didn't so i slotted them. i always blame reproduction parts for the problem, but it could of been something else.

my right bedside corner was pushed in after the bed fell off a 3 foot high support set up, but just a little bent. i straightened it out a long time ago, so that's not a problem.

Re: grrr, dang reproduction parts

I think the last picture looks great, I have always slotted my brackets so I could slide the bumpers closer to the body (Foose does it too, great minds think alike!)

Great job Matt. Rg

Re: grrr, dang reproduction parts

A lot of the repop stuff is made on some of the old stamps and or inferior stamps, therefore the parts come out that way. BUT< I am here to tell you swapping oem parts from truck to truck you'll find that nothings falls onto them. I have a perfect 68 clip (not bragging, well, kinda!) on my 72 Blazer and both are perfectly aligned ans the clip will not line up.
