Hedman headers
I just purchased a set of hedman elite headers for my 70 chevy cst short box 2 wheel drive 1/2 ton and they don't fit. The headers hit the bottom side of the frame on both sides. The motor is a stock SBC 350 and I have a 700r4. The motor mounts are brand new too. Hedman says that they have never heard of this before... I have a 68 chevy with the same set up and the problem exists with the hedman headers I ordered for it too. Has anyone else had this problem?

Welcome to the site! I have heard good and bad about Hedman. I have Hooker Super Comps and they fit good

Re: Hedman headers
I am having the same problem with right now, except I have the husler series. I waited for almost 3 months for them to get made, spent lots of cash on them, and now frustrated

Re: Hedman headers
I ended up beating the hell out of 2 tubes so that they would fit. I would have sent them back, had I not had them coating by Jet Hot. I made the mistake of not test fitting them before having them coated. So, if you can, send them back....."Hedman blows".
I would rather take an old kids swing set or use some 1 1/2" black plumbing pipe with pipe elbows and make my own up before ever using another set of Hedman headers. All that room in that engine bay, and they can't get them to fit. Unbelievable!! JMO though

Re: Hedman headers
Which part # headers are you talking about? Also,... are these full length headers or "shorty" headers? I was thinking about using the elite version of the Chevelle "shorty" headers. Also is your sbc in the stock location or the I-6 location?

Re: Hedman headers
Im running the full length elites on a 350. Very close to frame on drivers side but not touching. Had several pairs over the years with no problems.

Re: Hedman headers
They are in the stock forward location. The part number is 69090. They are full length headers.
