airbags and rear coils
I'm considering rear airbags for my 67 gmc 1/2 ton. After looking at Mr Shelleys installation, I'm left wondering. Has anybody put a sleeve style airbag inside the rear coil springs? My concern is that in the event of failure, one side would have no support without the spring.

Re: airbags and rear coils
If you're just looking for extra load carrying capacity they sell kits that allow you to install an air bag inside the spring that is designed to go in there, If you want to be able to lower your truck with air bags it's not going to go any lower with the spring still there.
The kit looks similar to this: http://www.jegs.com/i/Hotchkis/515/31750/10002/-1 A properly designed air suspension would also allow you to drive (slowly) with 1 or all airbags deflated.
