Fuel injection for in line 6

Does anyone have or know of fuel injection for an in line 6.
I have not seen any and think it would improve the drive ability and mileage for the 6, as the carbs just plain suck, they were great for the time but I think that a TBI on a 6 would be good, ultimate would be a port type system, although I don't know how this could be accomplished, that is why I say TBI.

Anyone??? ...Discuss ???

I don't know how ,but that would make for one hell of a reliable engine if you could do it.

Get an Offy 4bbl manifold and put a holley pro-jection or try to put a Howell 2bbl gm style system on the stock manifold.

Someone on here did a budget fuel injection addition to their 6 sylinder. I can't remember who, but I will do some searching.

I think that it would be so cool to do that and I agree that TBI would be the only way to go. If you do it, keep us posted with pictures so we can check it out.

If you're real handy, there is a kit called Megasquirt. We did this for an 1835 VW, and it was a blast and fairly easy to setup. I liked it because I could put the whole thing together, from computer to intake runner. It's an open-source F.I. kit.

There's a lot of research to be done, but it's fun and a lot cheaper than even the holley setup.

clifford 6=8 has a comp. fuel injection set up for the inline 6 it is a bit pricey

They are pricey all around but when there are only a few players in the game you pretty much can name your game.


I really would like to use an OE style intake, and the rest GM pieces like in the link from 71.

I was thinking megasquirt too

Though I also think a TBI setup off of a v6 would be pretty easy to set up also.

Just wanted to thank all who posted, there is some very good info, which has started my quest all over again to make my 6's FI, after doing much reading, there are several ways to go.
I think for my 65, it'll have to be the Megasquirt II as my 65 has a little bit of a build, and this would allow me to really tune it the way I want.
The 67 is a stock 250, so I think that I am going to embark on the wrecking yard journey to build a system out of a 87 up harness, and all the rest of the pieces.

After finding all of this info, I now will go ahead and do my conversion on an 86 G20 SWB van. it is an original carbed 4.3 with a factory 3 spd on the floor and a 3.42 posi, now it will get a FI 4.3 Vortec and a 5 spd.

So this has really opened a can of worms, I really would like to finish my 68, but am really wanting to get back to my 67 and get it finished, so I am pondering selling my 68, so I can work on the others.

Unfortunately that will be the last one that I'll do in order of projects, as my 65 is slated for major rust repair, many others probably wouldn't do....had a clean replacement body for it.....went away in a divorce...so now just going to repair it, no one else would want it or pay for it when it is done...lol

Well I haven't been on for awhile, had to be hospitalized for some tough health issues, but have had a little time to think about this conversion to EFI, and found another way to go for a relatively reasonable price
check it out and let me know what you think about it.

does that replace old stock tbi motors or any motors? i dint see also clifford performance out of california has a TBI kit with all the wiring and parts u need, the kit runs 1000$ check it out at cliffordperformance.net even though it is a little expensive it may help point u in the direction u want, plus they have many cams and other performance parts, i would look for their intakes used first as they are expensive, or or offy as ive heard their a little better but their cams are good im looking to get one for my truck, soon as i can afford to spare a couple bucks lol

292, from what I have seen, this site has just about any type of system covered TBI, MPFI and so on, they have custom apps as well. but for your Q, Both, with and without.

They also have adapter plates for a inline 6 stock manifold, just an all around good source I think, hope others chime in on this site with any experience with them.

I've thought about this also.I think the trick would be to get a manifold like the Offy and have an adapter built for it.Then all the stuff from a 4.3 should be right in the ballpark.Factory TBI with almost all factory stuff that is available anywhere.

Hey guys, since a few year has went by since someone posted to this thread. Who has the best set up for fuel injection? Or what's the best route to take to convert to FI? Btw, I have a 292 6 cylinder.

I still have to go with the megasquirt too! It really was a fun project that ran pretty well on the VW we put it on.
