newb blower question

i found a guy who is givin heck of a deal on a 4/71 blower. says it will fit a big block but i know im new to blowers and superchargers and what not but isnt that a small block part. also it is missing the front snout, he only wants 200 for it does that sound like a good deal. im runnin a 454

I've heard it cost quite a bit to have the rotors rebuilt in those things so I would have someone check it before I laid out any money. Also you might want to find out how much a new snout would cost. Looks like a money pit and that's why he is selling so cheap.

If it cam off a tractor or some kind of equpment id stay away,if it has an intake for a big block its actually a great deal ,bds sells the end plates and drives but these guys are right you dont just bolt a blower on and go,you need a blower cam,carbs,forged pistons, and some good tuning,id say stay away.

Really, the blower is the cheap part anyway. this one sounds like a core blower. It is the end plates, new rotors or relined rotors, the complete drive set up, and manifold that get you. I'd say stay away and purchase a complete used set up. You usually can find them from $1200 on up depending on the day.
