Has anyone used a set of 6" rear lowering springs?

I ordered a set but haven't got them yet. I took the springs out today and put the wheels and tires back on. It is sitting on the frame but that is were it needs to be. I also ordered a c notch kit to help with the clearing issue. Were will the 6" springs set it? Anybody got some pics? I am running a 295/40/20 rear tire.

They a 10" wide, I will have to measure the BS. I have not put the c-notch in yet but I am some time this week. GMC Paul's has the springs on sale right now for $99.00, and the c notch was only around $70.00. I think the drop spindles, shock relocator brakets, adjustable panhead bar, c-notch,and rear springs with shipping was only around $585 or so. I will get you some pics when I go to the shop next time. I will snap you one of it sitting on the frame before I tear it apart. I looks killer.

Thanks for the info, I also want to run a 20 x 10 out back, what are you
running up front? I am considering a 18 x 8, may have to be 18 x 7 (bags)

I got a 20x8 with a 245/40/20 tire. 2.5" drop spindle and cut factory springs. You beleive this thing has the factory balljoints still it it and they are tight as heck.

The rake of it (and the Blazer) looks great the way it is but I bet it handles funny.

Re: Has anyone used a set of 6" rear lowering springs?

I don't think 6" springs will get you there. I have 4' with 2" blocks for a total of 6" and I don't have a c-notch and have NEVER bottomed out. With the 6" drop I still have between 1.5"-2.00" before the axle would hit the frame.

Here's a pic below. I think if you want to go as low as you show in the pic you will need a 6" spring, c-notch and a block (or go with an airbag setup).

Good luck, Rg

I have the c-notch, I was guessing I was going to have to get some blocks to get it on down there. I don't think I want to go the air ride route, too much to spend there. I would rather take the 1500 to 2000 and put some aluminum heads on my 402. Thanks for the info.

Re: Has anyone used a set of 6" rear lowering springs?

Mine is actually a 3/6. I need to go down more in the front and I have plans on putting 17's or 18's on it. Well, I REALLY need to put it on bags, I really like the 2wd's down low, I think I'm about as low as I could get without the c-notch. When I go to bigger wheels I will be notching it... ohhh, it never ends....

Re: Has anyone used a set of 6" rear lowering springs?

On my 70 truck, I used ECE's 6" drop springs with a 2" block and bolt-in c-notch. The axle tubes sit right in the opening of the notch, right at the bottom of the old frame. My back tires are almost exactly 29" tall. I know it's not a blazer but....

That should get me just were I want to be. I appreciate the info. Looks like a good work in progress. I love 67-72 trucks too.

She's a 60 or 70-footer right now, but everything under the sheetmetal is new. I almost don't want to do the body work and paint, i might be scared to drive it after that.

Re: Has anyone used a set of 6" rear lowering springs?

Steven, your truck sits exactly the way I want my blazer to sit. How hard was the c-notch? Did you pull the bed to do it?

Thanks, Rg (jkade, sorry for the hi-jack, I'll give you one free hi-jack of any thread I start...)

Re: Has anyone used a set of 6" rear lowering springs?

So let me get this straight-Do you have to c-notch when you lower a blazer 6 inches in the rear?

I don't own a 2wd, but may in the near future

Re: Has anyone used a set of 6" rear lowering springs?

Yellow69, I have a 6" drop with NO c-notch. Anything greater then 6" will need a c-notch.

Re: Has anyone used a set of 6" rear lowering springs?

Roger, I did pull the bed to do my c-notch. The bolt-in c-notch has like 5 steps on the intructions, HA... That thing was a pain to put in. You have to grind rivets out (the worst part of the install), cut out the portion of the frame, then when you get it all going back together at least 2 of the bolts were too long (they were hitting the crossmember behind the axle.) And in the end it basically puts a spacer between the top of your springs and the frame. I'm thinking about welding mine in because I think I want it to be a little stronger so I don't get nervous the next time I go to tow something. If I had it to do over again, I would bypass the bolt-in notch and make my own out of some pipe, then box in the frame right there.

If you do go with the bolt-in, I know that it can be done without removing the tub on a Blazer, but it has to be a pain in the @ss.

Thanks Steve, I'm thinking I should make my own and weld it in also.
