Is this worth the $$ for a donor vehicle?

So I need another motor (temporary), tranny, and doors (I want pw/pl) for my crew cab project and while looking I came across this burb. I talked to her on the phone and she said would be willing to take $700 for it. I havent really started looking to hard for rear doors and not sure if they are hard to find and what they cost?

I think it may be a pretty good buy for the parts I need and I'm hoping I can part or scrap whats left to get close to break even, any opinions? and can I make a 4wd 700r work in my 2wd?

If the doors are not rotted and it's not blown up, it is certain to be worth $700 bucks.

Apparently the only rust is on the barn doors, motor was rebuilt last year and she has reciepts for the rebuild.

Re: Is this worth the $$ for a donor vehicle?

Yes sir it is worth it. Offer her 500.00 and see what she does. But I bought a 90 model sububrban that was running just for teh parts that I wanted. I sold what parts I did not need and hauled it off for scrap and ended up only costing me 100.00 and got all the parts that I needed. Buy it!!! Thats my .02 cents.

Have you Bought it Yet? You Can't go wrong at that Price, Might be able to sell that Roof Rack to some of the 67-72 Burb Guys, Would you use the Burb Grill on your Crew Project? If Not , They also sell for some Decent money................

You Could Take all you Need & Sell the Left overs & Prolly end up with the Parts you are needing for Freee.........

Now Go Buy it before some one Steals it out from under you.........

I'm going to look at it and give a deposit tomorrow, she said she would even have AAA tow it back to my house for me if I didnt trust it to drive the 40 miles. I hope it's in as good of condition as she says it is

I still need everything as of now ha, I really want pw/pl so I figured I'd buy some doors but the rest of the interior is in great condition, I'm still looking for a good fleetside bed locally and another boardmember is going to do the frame work for me Feb 1 if I can get the motor/tranny installed by then. I need to get it running by March 1

Re: Is this worth the $$ for a donor vehicle?

I would get it. Worth it for the parts you nbeed and then sell scrap the rest. I know around here alot of times you could trade a 4x4 trans for a 2wd version. O sell the 4x4 for more then the cost of a 2wd version.

Re: Is this worth the $$ for a donor vehicle?

I think it is a good score, I'd go for it.

One thing, don't plan on getting much for the hull/scrap...steel prices are REAL low!

We'll see how sweet this deal is, I get a feeling its not going to be as nice as she is telling me. Now if I could only find a nice bed I'd be set

Any idea what I'd get? I'm not sure if it would even be worth the gas hauling to scrap without a front flip, doors, motor, trans, axels?

Re: Is this worth the $$ for a donor vehicle?

The trannys are the same except the outputshaft. You`ll need to disassemble it and remove the 4wd outputshaft and get a 2wd shaft and tailshaft cover. looks like a good deal. I`d like to find a 87-up truck/blazer/burban cheap so I could change my 84 to TBI.

Re: Is this worth the $$ for a donor vehicle?

Well $600 bought it. It's actually in pretty good overall condition, tires are almost new, seats and carpet, are a little dirty but horrible, couple of small rust bubbles on the pass fender and some interior pieces are messed up but runs and shifts great! I should have it home by the end of the week to start pulling the doors and harness, motor and tranny!!

4wd

I think I have it sold already ha ha. I called my buddy/machine shop owner that is doing my motor and tranny for my crew cab and he is going to trade me the suburban for a complete rebuild and install of my old 350 and 700r . All I have to do is buy the heads (vortec's) and he is going to supply the rest!!! I really dont have the space to part it out anyway, and now I dont have to worry about bothering my friends to help me with the installing the tranny.

I got $102 for what was left of our 90 Suburban R10. We took off a lot, but threw a bunch of scrap steel inside to make up for it. I got $40 a ton, it was up to $150 a ton earlier in the year.
