Need yalls opinion on this truck
I went today and test drove and inspected the truck. Its a 68 SWB. Truck is in great condition, drove nice. Truck is still 6 lug tho. Disk brakes out front. Drum in the rear. Motors a 383, 350 tranny, and 12 bolt rear. No AC/Heat, Anyway 16k is a little high to me. I was thinking offering $12,500?? What do you guys think?

Re: Need yalls opinion on this truck
If you are asking for an opinion, mine is "aftermarket truck" Everything on this truck appears to be aftermarket. None of the body panels line up. Yes, overall it is a decent looking truck but you can do far better for $12,500 than this.
Would they be willing to confirm that it is actually a short bed or one that has been cut down. Way to much money. That is my .02

Re: Need yalls opinion on this truck
VIN or Half Ton has nothing to do with swb - only the model number and wb dimension matter - if model is CE10734 (E if a v8, S if originally a 6) and wb is 115, it's an original swb truck. If lwb, it would be CE10934 and 127". Concur with others'comments, seller trying to make a buck, and nothing wrong with that, but you can probably get more for your $.

Re: Need yalls opinion on this truck
You asked for opinions so here goes. Anti sway bar brackets attached to the frame backwards (DUUUUH) Worst rust separation at the back of the trailing arms that I have ever seen. Oil pan looks like it was run over by a bus and then hammered back out. Looks like the dizzy may be almost against the firewall indicating 6 cyl. engine stands with a V8 small block attached. E-brake hardware on the crossmember slightly askew to put it mildly.Aftermarket tailgate and hood and probably lots of other "imported" ( Chinese junk) If I had $12,500.00 ( which I don't) I would see how many miles I could put between my money and that truck.

Re: Need yalls opinion on this truck
I have not read the other comments yet, I didn't want it to change my thoughts. That looks like a project that someone didn't quite finish.
The hood doesn't appear to fit very well. The panel gaps are all over the place. The interior doesn't look too bad, but the speakers are sitting on the seat and the wiper knob is missing, the lighter and light knob appear wrong too, that's all pretty easy to fix but that's the problem! Why weren't they done right in the first place since it's so easy??? It might be a good truck, but I would look it over in person real well.

Re: Need yalls opinion on this truck
Why not look in classifieds on here for a truck? $12500 is to much for that truck in my opinion.

Re: Need yalls opinion on this truck
way to high, for 12K, among other things, the headlight knob should be there.

Re: Need yalls opinion on this truck
Hanly I only noted what I could easily see from the pictures. If I could check the truck in person I would expect to find Bondo rust repair and a dozen other things not easily shown in the pictures. When you see the things we noted some of which may be very minor you can bet that this is the tip of the iceberg. If you think this is a deal then offer him 10 grand for it and you will probably have a project for yourself that will last until the world gets square again
The price he is asking must have come from Meechum auctions or somewhere. |

Re: Need yalls opinion on this truck
Along with what others said, way too much for everything wrong, tho if you go to check it out in person take a magnet and check along all the usual rust spots for bondo, cab corners rockers, bottoms of the fenders etc.

Re: Need yalls opinion on this truck
Right on.
But you guys are being a little harsh, arent you? If there's no thick bondo or rust in the likely spots that are covered up with under-seal and paint, though, I'd be a bidder. At $3,500.

Re: Need yalls opinion on this truck
Panel gaps are bad and tailgate is a repro (no letters) no ac\heat is a big deal. Interior is a modge podge of junk. You can get a real nice truck for 12k

Re: Need yalls opinion on this truck
I am not saying it applies to this truck, but have y'all noticed how every truck for sale seems to have a 383 stroker motor these days?? I like it when you ask how they did the motor build and they have no clue.

Re: Need yalls opinion on this truck
Hey Fred it was probably just a typo as in 283. Just like the 4 speed turbo 350 which by the way does not have a dust shielld on the bottom so keep it off the gravel roads I would want a parts list of what was put in this motor and a name of the shop that did the work since you are paying 10 grand or so just for the motor.
