TH400 kickdown ??
I just got a 70 truck with factory 402 BB with 3 speed tranny. I want to convert it to TH400 trans. What style kickdown was used in 1970 - the carb mounted switch or the later gas pedal activated one? Thanks for any help.

Re: TH400 kickdown ??
should be the carb mounted version if my memory serves me correctly. gas pedal style started in 71 with the cable instead of hard linkage. if i'm wrong someone will correct me, it's been a while since i messed around with a 2wd 70 model.

Re: TH400 kickdown ??
According to my 1971 chassis service manual it shows a pic of the carb having a kickdown switch mounted to it.
Here is the pic.

That truck wouldn't happen to be a blue Suburban, would it? Send me your # again. I think I found a trans. speedo gear.

Re: TH400 kickdown ??
i KNOW in 72 it was on the pedal... I had thought it was moved in 71, but not 100% sure now. (that illistration is for cars)
However, as indicated above, for 70, it was on the carb. |

Re: TH400 kickdown ??
If any help. My 67 has a 350 backed by a TH400. My truck by spid lable to have be a v8 auto truck. Mine just has a vaccumn modulator. Stomp on it and it changes gears. Nothing mechanical. Must be newer. Ever seen a governer in person. Quite a cool device.
