Well, I'll be moving to Okinawa in another week or so. I'll be gone three years or so. The Army would only store one vehicle for me, so I sold the 2004 Dodge Ram Quad Cab and the 2004 Chev Cavalier, and put my 1969 Chev Step SWB in storage.

I droppe it off in Carson, CA. It seems like a pretty good deal. They store it indoors and crank and move it every month. They also perform any regular scheduled maintenance (what ever the owner's manual says).

I should have taken a picture of it when I droppped it off. But, it is all black primer now. I replaced the cab. The new one has a shaved firewall and all rust repaired. I also installed the fuel cell between the rails with the sidemarker fill.

I don't know if you were allowed, but I was allowed to ship one POV on my orders (DOD civillian) to Japan. I shipped my Blazer to Yokosuka Naval Base. We have an unbelievable Auto Hobby Shop--four lifts, welders, sandblasters, paint booth etc. etc. I was told that our shop is one of the smallest. Anyway it is great having it here because I was storing mine behind my parents house in Texas and it was not getting the best care. It sounds like they have offered you a good deal and it is being well cared for. If you are ever on mainland Japan give me a shout.

At least you have your priorities straight. Save the 69, the others are easy to replace. Good luck on your three year stay!

Storage sounds kinda pricey, not that I need to / want to know how much,

I know how you feel. Mine is going into storage for 3 years also on Thursday.
Doing a tour in Vienna, Austria. Mine has no drivetrain so once the door is sealed, it will not see light till I get back. I'm going to miss Ol' Blue. Good luck to both of you on your tours.
