67 stepside bed (to trade or not to trade?)

Today a good buddy of mine offered to trade me the step off his 67 its a stepper w/o the spare dip. Its near perfect with only minor rust spots on the tail gate. should i trade my 96 stepper for it??? my only thought of no is that his bed does not have the side marker lamps, would i be able to trade the 67 fenders to someone for 68-fenders?? what do you think of the deal? it needs the bed floor redone and i would have to buy a chrome bumper for it,
could i cut the markers out in the bed and make it look right?? or would using a T/A marler up front painted to much the truck look ok with no rear??? what would you guys do, im very interested in an orginal bed and this seems like a great deal but im not sure

I've always liked the looks of the original stepside bed on our trucks rather than the 90's model stepside beds. I just can't get over the mismatched wheel openings when it comes to the 90's bed on the 67-72's. It's really up to you though. If the bed your friend has is in good shape and you really want an original style bed on your truck then I say go for it.

My vote would be to get the bed. Just fill in your front sidemarkers and it'll be good to go! Or if you really want sidemarkers in the rear, I'm sure someone would trade ya bedsides. Or if you're not good at body work, just leave the fenders alone. Any way you do it, it will look better w/the classic bed IMHO.

Make the trade.

They look way-better with the original style bed on them.

I'm obviously in favor of the side mount spare, but either style is cool.

Make the trade! A 67-72 with a late model bed on it looks......well, cobbled together. Personlly, I like the looks of no marker lights (can you tell I'm biased towards the '67's) so I would simply fill in the front markers to balance everything out again.

i dont care for any other bed but the original on these trucks and you can always get some sidemarkers and put them into the fenders on the other bed

Re: 67 stepside bed (to trade or not to trade?)

Well my only buzz about the matter is im wanting to get my truck back to a more orginal type ride, this bed trade would be a hugh helper but i just dont wanna shave my front side markers, I guess i had better trade the bed is in all honesty as good a bed that i have seen that hasnt had new panels installed on it

Someone(many times over) is looking for those fenders without the side markers. You should have no problem trading for the ones with markers. You might could even make a buck on the trade.

Re: 67 stepside bed (to trade or not to trade?)

Go for the`67 bed.As mentioned,the`67 fenders aren`t reproduced and you`ll br able to find a trade for the ones you need.Or,buy repros and sell your markerless ones.I sold a nice`67 fender for $300 last summer.

It may have already been said but...MAKE THE TRADE. I'll trade you step fenders if you really want the side markers. Seriously.
