Unhappy Help with 60 Apache 235

OK this is my first project truck. It has the 235 -6 in it and I would like to put a 350 in. I have called every truck add in the magazines and everyone tells me they dont make motor mounts. Anybody know how or where I can get them? or what to do?

I think you're needing the perches? Different between the I and V motors. Talk to Tony Smith - LILRED66 (http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/member.php?u=17302). I'll bet he's got a few sets.

Welcome.. If you use the search function on the site you will find miles of posts on different topics and things you will probably be doing to your truck. In this case you can use a set of perches from a 67-72 truck, on the 60 frame being its shorter than later years you will have to add some shims under the top of the perch on the frame a bit over an inch, i just used some steel plates cut neatly to fit.. Drill some holes and your finished.

My apologies; I didn't pay attention to the year of your truck. Does anyone know if the 63-66 perches work the same as the 67-72 for his application?

Re: Help with 60 Apache 235

For what he is doing I would say yes they would as he has to drill holes, I think I read someplace that the 4,5,6 guys look for the 67-72 perches to bring the engine forward? Been awhile since I read on it.

Re: Help with 60 Apache 235

Everyone says since it is a 60 with torsion bars that is my problem.

Re: Help with 60 Apache 235

The torsion bars aren't a problem unless you want to run full length headers. The problem is the torsion bar suspension was only used for 3 years, and the aftermarket makes almost nothing for this chassis design. The frame over the front suspension is one inch shorter than the 63-72 design, but a simple steel spacer allows you to use the later motor mount towers or perches by simply drilling a couple of holes. Details are shown at the following link:

Ive seen 60s with v8s in them . But they use the horse shoe style mount , that mounts to the front of the block.
