a couple more pics- have a lot of finish details to do, but will end up being powered by two linear motors

Re: reverse opening hood
I used buick hinges to do it on an S10 before. I'd think the biggest issue would be the "depth" of the hood because of the lip. You have to make sure the hinge would swing out far enough. I'd think that the early 90's 5 series BMW hinges would fit the bill well.

im going to be doing the same thing!! I like what joedoh did and theres another member that used the buick hinges!! whats the bmw rollers look like? anyways heres the other member, posted 78 and 84!! http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=383205&page=4 I plan on using 3/16" plate and make brackets that fit the inner fender top and bottom and rad. support! the hard part is getting time to do it!! im going to make mine all bolt on so if it don't work I can go back to stock

Re: reverse opening hood
having it open forward is one thing but having the back hold down when shut is another, and having the hood latch is another still. the rollers let the hood roll into position and use the stock front latch. still uses the stock release in the hood vent and has springs on it, it almost opens itself.

Re: reverse opening hood
I don't because I haven't gotten any further with it. My 'Burb has been sidelined for quite a while.
A few details, tho- I built my own radiator support from 1 1/2" square tubing. My design uses a bi-fold hinge system. I plan on using the stock type hood latch. I bolted a bracket to the inner hood support bolts and then got as close as I could to a balance point to ease the flip to vertical. I will also be adding rollers to the rear and alignment pins that will lock into receptacles in the firewall. The "big plan" is to have it open and close with linear motors ( still working out the mechanics on that.) Once we get on it seriously, and doing the bodywork, I will get focused on it. We have about 20 subtle body mods we're doing. |

Re: reverse opening hood
^ If your bagged, consider going with a Bimba Air Cylinder for the hood. They are pnuematic linear actuators for things like ATV dump beds, misc manufacturing uses etc.
