Project Firetruck Help Needed
My newley found 87 ton dually that has had the big block and auto tranny robbed from it are causing me some quandaries. The power steering pump bracket is left with the pump but I am sure it would be to good to be true for the same bracket to work on the small block I'm putting back in. Since it has the power brakes hooked to the power steering pump I'm wondering if any small block mount will work or will it be specific to that power steering pump. The model number on the title for this truck is R30R30 I was wondering if that was anything odd. Thx

87 "C30s" are R30s. that is correct. I believe small block ps pump is different than the big block one.

IIRC the big block had a separate reservoir and the small block didn't. However I think some of the serpentine setups used a separate reservoir.

Not sure about the brackets, however my CC came with a 454 and I believe they(po) used it on my 305 by spacing it away from the head mount. The pump itself is a saginaw type with resvour. The main difference being the extra return for the hydroboost and at that there are only two types of hydroboost. early and late I.e. flared fitting vs o-ring respectively.

Might as well get new lines, pump and reservoir for a SB truck. Stuff is pretty cheap. Serpentine conversion is fairly easy as well, just grab everything out of the junkyard.

I thought the same thing but SB tons are a little hard to find and they have crushed most of the square body's around here,since all the stuff in my truck is really low miles I'm gonna try and do as spike suggested and modify the brackets I have to work. I am trying to find a good pic of a SB ton with that power steering pump mounted to it to give me some guidance. Thx for all the help so far!

I will warn lots of c50-60-70 and 75 trucks had these mirrors factory. While the mirrors are no problem the doors themselves are not direct replacements. They have too large of a gap at the front a piller. Taken from experience.

Well I solved the power steering problem by buying a 83 suburban with a 454 and rebuilt tranny. It has the towing package so I'm moving the oil and tranny coolers over as well as the hitch. It also has the delux insterment panel so I guess that swaps to. Time to get to work.

Double check, but I believe the hitch is different on the Burb. Nice score though!!!!

I have hit a snag on my motor installation,I could tell someone had been chasing a oil leak on the oil cooler system by all the gasket maker and thread tape that was everywhere,I found a crack on this sandwich adapter where the brass fittings screw in and was wondering if the oil cooler is even needed since I won't be doing any long hauling with this truck? I did find another one on eBay and got it headed this way so hopefully I'm covered.
