Quick ? bout our trucks....
I keep getting emails from many people wanting to buy my 68 SWB I understand it need work but a few people are telling through email that my truck is not as rare as I think and its not worth $700 and everybody seems to be an expert on how rare a car is....I just get irritated with prople that think my truck is worthless but they keep wanting to buy it....Everybody want something for nothing....I hate when people look at my truck and call it a piece of **** but I see some potential I never had this problem when I drove it in HS....Am I wrong is my truck not as rare is I think they are especially short wheel bases??

Re: Quick ? bout our trucks....
I wouldn't call a 68 Chevy SWB rare, but at the same time it's not something you see every day.
Unless it's a total rust bucket with no drivetrain it's probably easily worth the $700 you are asking.

Re: Quick ? bout our trucks....
These truck are a matter preference. I like this body style truck. I know my truck are not rare...hard to find like my LWB Stepper...but as far as my fleetside LWB its not rare.
Rare...48 Tucker, 63 Vette with 327 fuelie and 4 speed, 69 Trans Am, and so on. Our trucks are sometimes hard to find but they are out there. Special trucks...Cheyenne's...CST's...and so on. They are out there but just a little harder to find.

Re: Quick ? bout our trucks....
No offence but I e-mailed you a couple times about it when it was on Craigslist and you told me you want $3000 for it. In my opinion it's too much. You can get that easily up north but here in Texas you will probably have to drop the price if your serious about selling it. The fact that the motor is 1/2 taken apart and has "rust in the cylinder walls" means a rebuild in most cases. It also needs some paint and body work as well. In the pics on your craigslist ad you showed the interior with a set of heads and misc engine parts on the bench seat. It's basically a project truck and stuff just isn't selling as quick due to the economy right now. Please don't take this as a slam on your truck. It sounds like a nice start for someone. I'd be interested in it just not at your price. As a comparison when I bought my 67 it was a 1 owner truck and ran and drove. It had rust in the cab floor, corners and firewall. It also had an almost cherry bed, nice front clip, excellent running motor and trans. I paid $1700 for it. I also recently bought a 72 swb roller with an excellent bed and front clip, no motor or trans for $750 off Craigslist.

Re: Quick ? bout our trucks....
Honestly, you need to figure out what you want for it. Make a price and stick with it. If it's a fair price for it's condition it will sell. Anytime you say "make offer" you will get lowballed. I went to look at your ad again and see you deleted it. When I'm looking at a potential project that dosen't run I always factor a complete drivetrain overhaul into the picture. The fact that you can't hear it run to determine the engine condition or drive it to determine the condition of the transmission, suspension and brakes is a big deal to me. Basically I figure it as I'm just buying the body and anything that might actually work is a bonus. Once again, I'm not trying to rag on your truck I'm just stating my opinion.

Re: Quick ? bout our trucks....
No bro I appreciate it I just am in lingo trying to figure out what I wanna do..My living situation is not helping and I want to keep the truck but every city is to strict on keeping the truck in the driveway or where my parents cant even keep it in the garage without permission from the housing association which is crap....Thats the main reason to want to sell it but for me I could put up with the crap just to get it fixed back up like its supposed to be.....

Re: Quick ? bout our trucks....
Didn't you have a post a few weeks ago about this truck? You had more pix, some showing the engine in a disassmembled condition.
People don't have the money today to arbitrarily purchase a basket case. It may not be a basket case to you, but not having it in running condition is costing you money. If you want it to sell, you should get it to the point that it will crank from the seat. Regardless of how well it ran before, the fact that it won't run/doesn't run today, is not helping your case to sell it for more than the minimum. Labor is money. Parts is more money. Time is money. It will take some of all of them to make it run. The people who look at it and low-ball you are thinking of the other things it will take to get it running, bad economy or not.

Re: Quick ? bout our trucks....
it is your truck and you can ask what you fell you want for it,,,let everyone make their stupid offers and just say "NO" someone will buy it sooner or later remember your stuff is always worth less then when they buy it the price goes up automatically.....

Re: Quick ? bout our trucks....
SO, why would someone center on you and tell you all of these sordid things about your truck? I can only guess that they are (1) immature, (2) foolish, (3) clueless, (4) phsyco, (5) a Hollywood celebrity, (6) a politician, (7) or a Howie Mandel ---Deal or No Deal.

Re: Quick ? bout our trucks....
Considering the inside of my cab is the same color I will probably do the same.

Re: Quick ? bout our trucks....
A guy popped off as I pulled into the grocery store parking lot one night....."You wanna sell the truck?"
My first response, was no, and that I had just got the truck and it was one like I had in high school, so it held some fond memories for me. But he continued, "You sure you don't wanna sell the truck?" So, I looked at him and said, "Sure, for $10 grand we can talk about it." He commented that it wasn't worth $10 grand. To that I said, "Then we have nothing further to talk about....do we!" There's nothing that a new truck can do for me like my classic '72 does. It makes me feel like I did in high school and also helps me to relax and enjoy the blacktop. You have to remember, that a computer is just like a phone........if you don't like what the person on the other end is saying......you can hit delete and/or hang up. But if you put it up for sale and open yourself up for obo....then don't get your feathers ruffled when somebody lowball's you......cause it's going to happen. Good luck w/whatever you do. Greg |

Re: Quick ? bout our trucks....
I dont know about others but my 69SWB is a one of a kind and that is rare. Yep it is the only one with my work into it, my time, build my way, my love. F*** what others think i love my truck and everything about it. All i know is that when i work on it i do so with more passion then i have when with my woman. I actually get short of breath when i see it or others like it. My woman thinks i am a dork because every time i see one i say ( Look babe! Oh my god what is that? SWEET!!! ) I would rather think that my woman (as sexy as she is) is like a million others but my TRUCK!! haha now that is a rare find.
