choke thermostat- need help finding one
I am having trouble finding a new choke thermostat for my 1970 350 motor with a quadrajet. carb # is 7040208 and the thermostat has to push in an upward direction to open the choke. this is the style that mounts in the intake manifold.
Anyone know where I can get one or a correct part number?

Re: choke thermostat- need help finding one
ACE,
Ok I have a post on here for the same thing. I bought the one from Brothers and It isn't right. I purchased the one for SBC Rochester and it just simply doesn't work. I ended up putting a manual choke cable on it. I've attached pictures. In the pictures the choke spring is wound backwards, I reversed the spring so the push pull was right. I still could not make it operate. I have a Rochester 2brrl and I could not get the choke to open or close. It was like the choke butterfly arm bracket was not correct. If it was supose to pull it open it would pull it closed and if it was supose to be closed it would be closed. Confusing as all get out. In the picture you can see the spring and the bracket o the choke. if it pulled like when it was hot it would close the choke and vice versa. I talked to some tech guys that had on in their hands and they got back to me and said, " been there done that and that it would NOT work for my application" If you want I'll send you the one I bought for 20 plus shipping... I'm using manual choke..... Regards!! |

Re: choke thermostat- need help finding one
well I met a guy today that told me the sb & bb choke stats are the same, the difference is in the linkage. Anyone else ever heard this?

Re: choke thermostat- need help finding one
Just bought the one your looking for on eBay for $15.00. I don't know if that's expensive or cheap, but it's the correct one for my truck and it works. That's enough for me. Good luck.

Re: choke thermostat- need help finding one
I stumbled upon this site.
http://www.carburetion.com/quadrajet.asp They don't have exactly what you want. But if you scroll to the buttom you will find a replacement that is an electric replacement for the divorce choke. Not cheap.
