Can anyone identify this Center Support Bearing? Why is it different from the replacement ones in the catalogs? I have taken off the aluminum bracket that goes around it. It looks like some body rigged it on there. If it doesn't belong then what should be there instead? This picture was taken a while ago and I have since blasted and painted the frame and suspension installed. I'm going through all my pictures to finalize the underneath so that it can get to paint. Thanks to all for your help.

Looks like you need the horse shoe type...but i'm not sure.
Aren't the two types year specific? what year is your Truck?

My truck is a 1972 Chevy C20 that has been cut to SWB. When I bought it it was quite a mix-up of parts. I didn't know to look at that particular spot of the frame to see if it had been cut from LWB to SWB, but it has turned out to be OK. I had to redo the welds and all but with the paint I can't even tell much. The front end suspension is from 1973. So in other words i can't be positive what year everything really is but 90% is 1972 C20.

BB,s used that bracket and bearing and I think c20,s.

The one Eightbanger showed should be the right one. They should be readily available at most any parts house.

It looks like someone has spaced the bracket off the crossmember a bit to compensate for either having the trans setting a bit to the rear or for the driveshaft being a bit longer than space allowed. That shouldn't be a big deal though.

They used 3rd Generation Engine Mounts for the engine and it pushed the drivetrain back a little. Thanks for the help.

I lost the hanger that the bearing bolts on to any ideas where I can get one? I think it is called the center support hanger.
