Disc Break kits. dana 44 & 60 rear 71-K20
Does anyone offer high performance big disc brakes for my 71 k20 with a dana 44 up front and a dana 60 rear? I want this heavy truck to stop on a dime.
I have standard calipers with drilled slotted rotors on the front but it needs better calipers and I hope to add larger discs. Can this be done with a kit? Also I want discs in the rear but All I can find is the lug nut kit with eldorado calipers. Is this a heavy duty enough set up? Thanks Matt |

Aren't the eldo kits 5 lug? Blackbird or Blackhawk engr used to make rear disks, but they're out of business now. Are you running larger than stock rotor size up front? Might check with member Captainfab, he's a brake equip guru.
Personally, by today's standards, the 67-72 3/4 tons are smaller than modern 3/4s. The factory disk/drum setup is more than sufficient with stock size tires when restored/tuned, etc. If you have larger tires, then a bit more brake may be needed, but unless you've got a bigger then 33-35, I can't see the bang for the buck in performance paying off. |

After the fiasco getting parts for my c-20 last Saturday.
If I ever have to revisit the brakes, which maybe soon as the right rear adjuster went full tight and smoked new shoes. This will be on Old blue https://lugnut4x4.com/product/dana-6...onversion-kit/

When it comes to brakes, maybe it's kinda weird, but as much as I'd love to get a kit for an upgrade (and the ones you shared looks like a nice one), I prefer to buy stuff locally just so I have the slightly less pain in the butt to return the part(s) when I realize they're the wrong ones, core charges, etc etc. Just seems easier. Anyone know of a kit for a HO rear on a K20? Or have a solution to a parking brake on either rear? I have a D60 in a C20 in addition to the HO in my K20, but have yet to crack the parking brake nut, if I did, I'd consider a disk swap (on either). Haven't been that worried about it though, much bigger fish to fry on both vehicles. If it doesn't start, no need for it to stop |

Parking brake spreader bar spring broke. It's caused the shoes to wedge in to the drum an kill the shoes and drums. And sourcing parts was a fuster cluck, drum for a 72 wheel cylinder for a 68 and so on.

Pulled the spreader bar for now to get it home and ordered the $2 spring.
And pull the drum off for the 3rd time, yay for old trucks. Glad it's an outboard drum.
