Ideal voltage to lamps and such
I have to what I believe is the original voltage regulator in my 68... I had about two years ago installed a new alternator (externally regulated). When I measure the voltage at the sockets for my lights I'm getting anywhere from 14.5 to 14.9 at idle and I'm sure a bit more when the rpm's are up. My question is, should I have a reading that high or do I need to replace my voltage regulator to bring it down a bit. I'm planning on converting most of my lamps to led and I'm running into some design issues... Any help appreciated!

14.5 to 14.9 should be good. Did you also check it with the high beams on and heater blower on high, at idle it should drop down and at 1500 rpm should be between 13.5 and 15v. You can check the regulator output voltage at the + battery terminal.
