Paint Code for Bowtie Blue?
Does anybody have a paint code for the 67-72 Chevy Bowtie Blue? Is this color still available from GM? If so, what would the code be? How about PPG or Dupont?
Any help would be great. Thanks, 72longbed |

Re: Paint Code for Bowtie Blue?
What is it, that is painted "bowtie blue" that you want a paint code for? I don't mean to sound like a smart alec....there are regional buzzwords that are used and I honestly don't know what it is, that has ever been painted "bowtie blue". Now, Chevrolet orange??? I gotcha on that one. If you mean the blue color that was used on engines, I believe that GM referred to it as "Corporate Blue".

Re: Paint Code for Bowtie Blue?
Do you mean the color on the inside of the actual bowtie? I'm not sure what the color is called but chevy has used several colors over the years. The inside of the bowtie has been red, blue, and is currently that sparkly gold color. I think that's what your talking about, if anyone knows, I'd kinda like to know what the real color is too The bowties on my 67 were red, so I painted them Testors medium blue model paint.... I like it

Re: Paint Code for Bowtie Blue?
Sorry, I should have been more specific. I need the Blue that was used from 69-72 on the Bowtie emblem that was painted in the center of the truck hubcaps. There may have been other areas of our trucks that used the same color during that time period, but that is what I need the paint for.
Thanks, 72longbed |

Re: Paint Code for Bowtie Blue?
Does it have to be a specific shade of blue? Can't you just find a blue that is what you like and go with it? I don't think I have ever seen anyone get anal over an un-noticable shade variation. Then, I guess there are those who are color-blind and/or are in a phase of restoration.
But I understand. Back in my Mustang days, seeing engines that were painted an incorrect shade of blue was very noticable. To the person who painted it, it was blue.
