Gauges?

What size are the stock gauges in an 84? The big ones and the small ones. I want to get some new gauges soon and need to know what sizes I need. Also, how/where do I hook up a gauge that isnt stock(Like tranny temp, etc)?

Re: Gauges?

You are probably looking at using the 2 1/16 gauges if you install them from behind, but you can fit 2 5/8 if you install them from the top.

Transmission temp usually gets installed in the pan, or inline on one of the lines to the cooler.

Re: Gauges?

A 5" gauge for the spedo and tach will fit with the domes removed on the back of the bezel and a 2 5/8 for the smaller with the same modifications as larger gauges, also the white cluster will need to be modified, and for the unoriginal electric gauges will need a switched power, ground, and a sender wire

Re: Gauges?

Thanks! I know nothing about wiring/gauges etc. Is there guide on how to do it? I am also going to be running a 3 gauge holder under dash(diesel gauges). Do aftermarket gauges have the warning lights? Like low coolant etc. I'm great at body/paint/mechanical but am dumb when it comes to sending units, wiring, etc. But I have wired houses so I do know a bit. All help appreciated!

Well I am mounting the tach sideways on the dash(to the right of the gauges). It is a Diesel tach(max 6k rpm). It'll look sweet!
