Six lug 15x8 4 nub?

What happened to the market for these.? Seems like just yesterday these things sold like hot cakes. Now there are a bunch on the board that aren't moving. I didn't see where these were reproduced yet. Maybe they priced themselves out of the market?

It could just be the season also, vacations, getting the kids ready for back to school etc. It does seem like certain parts do go through spurts though. Like these wheels, tow hooks etc. It almost seems the more they are talked about the more the demand if for them.

Real men rock 15 X 6 inch rims. Looks like everybody in the bingo hall is starting to figure that out, and that's why no one wants them.

In all seriousness, if somebody came out with six lug versions of either 15 inch size people would line up to spend money they didn't have on them. The thought of spending 500 or 600 hundred bucks on a crusty old set of wheels that need to be sand-blasted and painted or powder coated - and then hoping they can be balanced - is lunacy. Maybe THAT'S what is going on.

these actually are reproduced. i picked up a pair from wheel vintiques.
i got 15x10 but the 8`s were also available

In 6 lug that accept dog dish caps??????? Maybe they just didn't have 15x6 when I looked pretty recently. But there ya go, and I bet that you paid less than for a set of originals.

Im pretty sure those are five lugs. I have a set of those too. I think there was a thread just a little bit ago about trying to get Wheel Vin to reproduce the 6 lug 8 inch rims but no go

If greed supercedes desire, the result is a no sell. Selling 15 inch rims when the trend is 20+ is a hard game when there's no demand.

^^^ None of that matters to those who don't follow the trend herd. But, ironically, the herd catches on to the classic look being the best look and there is a trend of going back to 15s for the look some of us have known is best for these trucks all along . There is serious demand for these wide 6-lugs that are not available new. The problem is the profiteers jacking the price up so drastically in such short time. Some fool pays too much and from that point the greedy sellers figure that's what they'll ask. At $400 a set they jump off the board. Same with stock width, at $100 a set those jumped off the board. But, greedy sellers (or perhaps ignorant) saw what the 8s were going for and next thing you know they are asking close to same money as being asked for 8s. Back in the day when I was running these wide steelies they weren't very common to see. It seems the mentality was "If I'm going to buy wide wheels I want shiny mags for my money". The more subtle toned down take a second look tougher than stock vibe has caught on now that these trucks are classic. The COPO/sleeper muscle car look has help the popularity as well. But when these old wheels start getting closer to the cost of classic 15" mags I think the old mentality kicks in making mags look more affordable for a more dramatic change.

Wheels were 3-nub until disc brakes came out. The wheels got changed to 4-nub at that point. The drum brake wheels won't clear the calipers.

A point that came up in a parallel thread that I'd like to get some clarification/confirmation on (I think there are about 3-4 white steelie threads going right now...). As I think most know by now that 71 and newer K5/10 wheels clear disks and pre-71 do not - I'd like to know if that is also exactly the dividing line between 3 nub and 4 nub, respectively. i.e. can you visually ID a pre-71 by the presence of 3 nubs vs 4. OR... was the 3-4 nub transition just somewhere "near" the 70-71 changeover from drum to disk? Is there such a thing as a 4-nub non-disk wheel or a 3-nub disk wheel? I think I know that part of the answer, but the question seems to come up time and again. The bottom line is to look at the inside face of the wheel and see of there is a big taper that could/would interfere with the caliper - but wanted to pull the thread on the nub dealio. Have heard this discussed both ways, usually folks lean toward the 3-4 nub - nondisk-disk. Thanks!

I called it greed and profiteering because the price was stable at $400 a set for years, then the guys on the board here that are only here to make money off of other members who contribute nothing come along and gouge the price to 50% more. When others with those to sell see what is currently being asked, they put that price on theirs and it goes on from there. It's not just these wheels, it's about everything. People see a piece in exc. cond. go for $xxx.xx and they put the same price on their fair cond. piece. Like I said, some of it's just plain ignorance. Guys need parts for these 40+ year old trucks.

I remember the first set I cobbled together. Got a couple really cheap, then choked at the price, but bought two more at 50 bucks each. And this was actually many years ago.
