Re: 3/4 length Chevelle headers ???

A lot of those old links no longer point to the correct thing - I was able to find the Sanderson links, but I was curious to see some others. Are there any of header manufacturer that makes these that anyone has on a truck? What year Chevelle and what part numbers?

As a side issue - anyone know if a column shift will fit?

Thanks!!!

-Brian

Re: 3/4 length Chevelle headers ???

Shane in the link posted above said his worked, I believe they are sandersons?? I bought a set of camaro/chevelle headers and they would not fit, the DS hit the motor mount by about an 1". So I eneded up using 88-95 truck headers and they fit nicely with a litle trimming, and no issues with plugs or wires as they will be underneath
Here is a link to my build thread to the page showing my headers, there is enough room to get to all the plugs and the headers go stay up instead of going straight down allowing more room for the wires and starter clearance

Re: 3/4 length Chevelle headers ???

I bought a set of hedmans that didn't work. I think they were part #68600. The driver side hit the motor mount. I used a set of the 88-95 truck shorties. With a little trimming on the driver side frame, they fit great. Hope this helps.

Re: 3/4 length Chevelle headers ???

I bought them several years ago and have no clue on the part number. I searched and it looks like my headers are now obsolete ... can't find them on the Jeg's or the Summit website.

Re: 3/4 length Chevelle headers ???

I think I may have the PN for the headers shane used. I happened to save a very old post on this subject.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ad.php?t=14688

It looks like Jegs may still carry them.

http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...86118&x=10&y=8

http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...10002_16250_-1 Looks like they went up to $299

Re: 3/4 length Chevelle headers ???

Do these headers hang below the frame? I am looking for some that dont go below the frame.

I have always called Hooker Headers and they give you headers that fit a small block perfectly, for about 130 dollars. They are full length and go below the frame.

Keep in mind all shorty headers are only 1.5" tubes!.

Most of them are, but not all... The 3/4 length Chevelle / Malibu headers have 1-5/8" primaries. I tried 2 different styles and unfortunately, I found that they did not fit to my liking (interference with the motor mounts). I searched some more and found a set of Edelbrock shorties that are listed for a 96-98 Pickup, Tahoe, Avalanche...

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

They fit with only a slight notch required in the upper frame rail on the driver's side. They were a bit of a compromise because they have an o2 sensor tube coming off the back of the driver's side header. I had it cut off and tigged closed so now you can't even tell it was there. Here are some pictures.

Re: 3/4 length Chevelle headers ???

Here is a pic of mine 88-95 truck headers(fro White performance) and what I really like about them is the front primary goes up instead of down like the chevelle headers and that will let me run the plug wires under them so you can't really see them, outa sight outa mind just my .02...Randy

Re: 3/4 length Chevelle headers ???

Has anyone used anything from the Hedman Elite line? They make shortys both for our trucks and for Chevelles that look great and are reasonably priced for ceramics. Anyone?
