72 402 big block with 36,000 miles
This is a complete 402 engine with TH 400 trans. This is in a motorhome that actually only has 36K miles on it. It is 100% original, with heat shields and all factory bolt ons just as they were from day one.
The motor has never been out of the truck, It's never even had the heads or intake off of it. It still has the points distributer in it and will start up and run. It sat for over 20 years, so I rebuilt the carb, hung an electric fuel pump to a can; and fired it right up. I move it in and out of the shop, but due to the camper being rotted, I am going to take it apart. It has factory air, still hooked up and spinning. It has all of the power steering , alternator and a/c brackets. This sale is for the complete engine from pan to air cleaner and the 400 trans. I have purposely left it all together, so the potential buyer could listen to it if desired. I would want to do gaskets and seals in it, considering how long it has sat, but it is the real deal. If requested, I can text more pics, pics of the odometer or any other requests. This was a one owner rig, that never left the state of Oklahoma. Give me a holler if you have any questions. This entire set up can be yours for 2600.00 pulled out and ready to go. If you would like to have it shipped, I will build a shipping crate and deliver it to any local carrier for 100.00 |

Would you be willing to sell the radiator fan shroud?

Would you sell the entire motorhome intact?

Re: 72 402 big block with 36,000 miles
Don't want to sell the fan shroud yet, waiting to make the deal on the motor. Possibly later.
I would consider selling the motor home, The cab is amazing, it has brown factory buckets that look like they have never been sat in. The wiring harness and fuse box look nicer than any I have ever seen. The defroster duct hoses are still bright black and solid. Doors are 72 and all that, with the exception of truck mirrors bolted to them. I could go on and on. My plan is to unbolt the cab and put it on another project truck, complete. it would take 7500. to buy the complete rig, parts wise, it may be worth more. It does have all numbers matching and a clean title. |

Re: 72 402 big block with 36,000 miles
Anyone interested in this rare barn dog? There can't be too many like it. 45 years old and less miles than most year old vehicles. I was asked if I would sell it complete. I would for the price, but I had big plans for the 100% rust free cab. It still has the original glove box liner in it.....I would take 7000. for it with clear title, all numbers match. Or take the motor and trans complete for 2600. pulled.

I'm with you on that. Sounds like a camper worth saving.

Re: 72 402 big block with 36,000 miles
several members have asked about the camper wrapped around this 402 Gem. Here are some pictures of it. Note the factory original glove box liner, the A/C - defroster vents are still like new, the seats look like they have never been sat in, the carpet shows very little wear and the dash is immaculate, with the exception of the cracked pad and steering wheel. This is a rare jewel for sure. My intentions are to sell the motor and trans, then donate the cab to a 4wd project that is due to arrive in February. The pass through on the cab is just cut below the window, so it will be a very easy splice. My plan is to knock the camper in the head, then sell the frame.

Re: 72 402 big block with 36,000 miles
last ones, Lets talk, if you want to saver, 7500. can own it as it sits, I have a clean title in hand. Otherwise, someone is inline to grab a sweet deal on an un-molested 402 that has probably never had the valve covers off of it.

It would be a very cool restoration project, Certainly a one of a kind barn find. There are several of these floating around, but Ive never seen one that stands this tall.

Re: 72 402 big block with 36,000 miles
sweet looking rig. i missed out on one a few years ago, less than two miles from my house. it was parked in an alley behind an old grocery store and unless you drove down the alley it was impossible to see it. it showed up on craigslist and a buddy of mine jumped on it.

WoW,
Yet another Unicorn, It's amazing that some of these were tucked away and protected. You certainly have a rare jewel. I would love to see more pictures of yours, so I can drool over it as I do mine. Mike |

Re: 72 402 big block with 36,000 miles
Imho, this cab/chassis/camper combo is really a nice original survivor. Can't be many like this one left, especially in this condition.
I hate to see it get parted out but if you can't sell it complete, I understand you with plan B. A friend of mine bought a '66 cab chassis camper combo with 70k on the odometer, 327, turbo 400, original paint, rockers and cab corners were in great condition. All appliances worked but needed updated. Everywhere he drove this thing, it generated a lot of interest. Eventually, he sold it for his asking price, I don't think it was for sale very long at all. You have yourself a really cool original automotive recreational vehicle. Last edited by Dave; 02-08-2017 at 08:25 AM. |

Jamie72, There is no question that it is 36K. The Camper was local and never left the state, It has been parked for just over 20 years. She is a sweetie
