Rear Gears

Can a ring & pinion from a 67-69 12bolt Posi Camaro rear be used in a 68 C10 12bolt Posi rear? My truck has 3.73's currently but I have access to a 3.07 from a Camaro rear & wondered if I could swap these to get a little better highway rpm just for now.

If this won't work, where should I get a set that will? In other words, what vehicle & years - looking for cheap. TIA.

Re: Rear Gears

The initial answer to your question is no, it won't work.
Car 12 bolt rears and truck 12 olt rears were not the same.
Also, a 3.07 gear won't work in a 3.73 rear end.
Plus, I'll assume you don't know this, but you can't just toss gears in. It takes some special tools and you have to know how to do it. if it isn't just right, they will die in no time.
I only assume you don't know how to set gears becouse anyone who does know how, wouldd probably not want to run used parts.
Your best bet would be to locate a 3.07 rear end out of a junk yard truck and buy the whole thing.
