Re: broke off dipstick tube
An easy out should work fine as it shouldn't be to tight in there.

Re: broke off dipstick tube
I had one do that to me also. I took a small punch and hit the tube at an angle inbetween the block and the tube.. That way it put a kink in the tube.(that lossened it up) I then took some needle nose pliers put 1 of the needles in on each side of the tube, Squeezed together and twisted. It came right out.

Re: broke off dipstick tube
If the easy out doesn't work, try a big sheet metal screw and a slide hammer or equivelant. Been there done that.

Re: broke off dipstick tube
When mine broke I tried all kinds of things to get it out with no luck. Finally tried to drill it out and the bit grabbed the broken piece and spun it out of the block. Hope yours goes better than mine did.

Re: broke off dipstick tube
All the drilling & stuff would make me a little nervous about getting metal shavings in the oil.

Re: broke off dipstick tube
If you think you got even a little filings in it change the oil.If you didn't it probably needs changing anyway.

Re: broke off dipstick tube
no drillin for me. i,ll pull the pan first....... i,am not going to hurt my 383 stroker engine for a dip stick..... i think the big sheet metal screw is the ticket. if i can get it to bite i,am gonna use fender washers and install larger nuts so when screw digs in it will pull tube out. a simple home made puller you might say.

Re: broke off dipstick tube
I forgot to mention that I had the pan off when I drilled it out; I couldn't get to it from the top

Re: broke off dipstick tube
I did that myself. I just found a bolt that threaded into it aways and then hooked up a slide puller to it and it came right out.

Re: broke off dipstick tube
just thread a huge screw into it and then you'll have something to pull
