Backspacing & Tire Size Question.
I am needing to know the backspacing & tire sizes for 20's (or possible 17's) on a 72 SWB with about a 3/4 drop on it. I would like the backspacing to be correct for if I went lower also.
Thanks guys... I am not as familiar with the 67-72 as the 88-98s. Last edited by JWall; 11-16-2009 at 11:07 AM. |

Re: Backspacing & Tire Size Question.
JWall... welcome to the darkside, the 67-72 side.
With measuring for BS each truck it going to be different. The type of drop, type of wheel, size of the tire, etc., all play have an effect on the amount of BS needed. Also, and this is my personal opinion, I think with 20's and only a 3/4 drop you will feel like you're riding high compared to youer 88-98 truck in your avy. Here's some specs on my '69 for larger dia. wheels, but remember, the '69's have a narrower rearend than the '71-72's, so you must take that into account. Wheel specs for my '69: 20x8.5 w/ 5.5" BS (front) 20x10 w/ 4.75" BS (rear) And here's a shot of a '67-72 with a 4.5/6" drop for comparison:
