gas tank carpet from acc

trying to install gas tank carpet but carpet looks to big any suggestions?

i got one for my 71 it fit nicely it goes from door post to door post and is alot easier to install with the seats cout of the truck

What part is too big? Mine covers the whole area on the passenger side where the jack goes... maybe that is part of the problem?
