C/30 4X4 or not?

I've been gathering parts for several years now in hopes of doing another 1 ton 4x4 build. I now have more than enough parts tucked away to do it, everything from a brand new 383/TH475 combo down to the rebuilt high steer Dana 60 and 19.5 Cooper C140 drive tires.
Now thanks to Chad (Hellaflush3d) I can get an idea of what it would look like finished. I sent him pics of my old 72 1 ton extended cab than I kept all the running gear from along with pics of my 70 C/30 stake bed truck I'll be using, he combined them along with some other modifications I asked for and came up with these renderings. He did a Great job! he hadn't done a bed like this or a dually before but I think he nailed it...from the pin striping on the bed down to the west coast mirrors...he definitely has an eye for detail! Makes me wanna get started on this thing!

Re: C/30 4X4 or not?

That's all kinds of awesome! I suppose the question you have to ask yourself is what is your intended purpose for the finished vehicle? If it looks like the rendering, I'd say it's destined for a museum, not a grueling life of work. Best of luck with your project, I'd love to see the progress when it gets rolling (pun intended)

The combination box is awesome. It reminds me of my dad hauling livestock in the back of the truck. Now we have to have gooseneck trailers. Times sure have changed. When was the last time you saw livestock hauled in the back of the truck?

I thought the same thing after seeing it, wasn't trying to copy his truck but that's okay, I've had a thing for that NAPCO ever since he got it!

Looks even more like his as a flatbed! What kind of wire is he pulling out of it to have that much? Haven't talked to him in a few years now, still get his Christmas card every year, guess family and trucking is keeping him pretty busy.

No it won't be a museum piece, it will be a work/play truck. It will have patina to it, it would have been double the work for Chad to ad patina so for the renderings it will look like a new truck but it does give a good idea of the outcome.

Doing good Joe, and yes starting with a solid rust free truck makes it much easier.

Your right it's been awhile since I've seen any kind of livestock hauled in the back of a truck. There was a time when a truck like this or just a slide in cattle rack in a pickup was all that was needed when a farmer wanted to take a single cow or a few hogs to market or slaughter, now it's about keeping up with the Joneses and pulling that fifth wheel trailer with your 45,000 dollar diesel pickup.

You know I like it! The answer is YES. Striping makes it look like an Omaha Standard. Or is it Obeco? This is a truck man's truck...man.

Re: C/30 4X4 or not?

It will be nice! Total blast from the past!
Are you going to keep the current 145" wheelbase? If you are actually going to be carrying a live load there are good reasons to consider a step frame. It would be easy enough to do an alternate side view.

I remember that truck. I forgot that it was you who built it. I believe this was back when I first popped in here. So sweet it gave me a toothache.
