I want to fix my horn...
Its in there, actually 2 I think. I have 1 wire that goes to the button on my Grant GT steering wheel but it just doesnt work. Anyone have any troubleshooting tips? Thanks.

the key is to insulate the wire and the horn cam where it comes thru the back of the steering wheel. I put a piece of electrical tape covering the hole in the collar and poked a hole in it just big enough for the horn wire to go through it. Then I put electrical tape on the side of the mounting bracket that goes onto the steering shaft, directly adjacent to where the tape is on the collar, making a no contact zone in that area. Next I hooked the wire up to the horn cam and put the cam in place on the steering wheel mount and slid it all onto the steering shaft as one piece. Then put the washer and the nut on the shaft to hold the steering wheel down and connect the wire to the horn ring and install the cap. Everything will work now provided the horn relay and the horns are good.

Thanks Josh, but shouldnt you be able to ground the horn wire and make it honk? It wont. So where is the horn relay at?And can you test the horn(s) by giving them a straight 12volts?

Yeah you can test the horns by giving them juice. The horn relay is on the firewall to the left of the steering column. It's a silver rectangular piece. I got a brand new one from the local parts house for ten bucks I think. It sounds to me like you either need a new relay, or new horns. When you ground the wire do you hear a click coming from under the dash, or nothing. If no click, then you definitely need a new relay.

Horn relay is left of where the column meets the firewall. Could be unplugged due to the propensity for Grant's pathetic horn kits to not work properly.

There is a slip ring with a carbon brush that transmits the power as you turn the wheel...more than likely thats where your problem is at. Maybe someone with a service manual can post a diagram of what I am speaking of.

Hey Barn, if you do it the way I described, the Grant horn kit will work, and very well too. Mine works perfect all the time, except for the horn button popping off in my lap from time to time.
