Did I fry my dist???!!!

I have a new (Pro-Comp) distributor that I've only pulled with once. My problem is:

I did some welding to the frame a couple days ago.....Started it up and pulled it into the Garage. It started and idled fine before I shut it down. Today I went in to move it out, and now I have no spark!! I switched complete caps and it didn't help. Since I forgot to remove my positive batt cable, I think i fried something. I have almost 14 volts to the dist, and It turns over too easy. What would I check inside the dist under the rotor????

I'm hoping it's something silly that I'm overlooking....especially since it started and drove fine AFTER I welded.

any hints would be appreciated.

A..........

Remove module and take to Autozone ,etc. and the can check it. If you have one out of another, try it.

Re: Did I fry my dist???!!!

14 volts sounds to high you would want it about 12 volts

Re: Did I fry my dist???!!!

I took a stock HEI distributor from another truck...slapped it in...got the timing close and it runs fine now!!! I'm getting ready to do more welding on it tonight.....will I be OK just disconnecting the battery??? Or should I disconnect the dist also??

thanks for your responses.

Re: Did I fry my dist???!!!

I did last time......I think something wierd is going on. I don't think it was the welding due to the fact that it started right up and drove back in when I was done. Has anyone heard bad things about ProComp distributors off of ebay??? I'm gonna disconnect everything anyway just to be safe.

thanks,

A......
