Re: 1956 3100 build

thanks jean-marc. we have you cold weather here now! i have been gathering parts for truck since i bought it in 1995 i figured it was time to start the build. it was fun to drive stock for a couple years with the pitina look?(right spelling). you could see massy ferguson on bottom of door faded in. some plumbing company name could be seen in another spot. what was funny is someone using drivers side inner roof for records. it had the amount of wolves and grass hoppers someone might have saw/counted plus acouple of oil change dates written in as well. i am waiting on a pair of rear fender tubs that would finish out the bed of truck . flange on tubs match bed stips when using wood bed.

Re: 1956 3100 build

No the whole corner is completly missing. But if you plan to cut them down to make them narower you could use a section from the drivers side to finish off the passsenger side, I think. Not sure when I'll get to mine so I'll look to se what you do with your's! My pics are free for anyone to use!

Re: 1956 3100 build

looking good. I was told not to mount my tank that way because the welds will eventually fatigue and leak due the weight. I ended up mounting mine with steel straps like they come from the factory. good luck with the build

Re: 1956 3100 build

hi everyone sorry i havent posted in a while i took abreak after seeing rust around windsheild area of roof. i didnt want to lose interest. i have since found a decent roof of an old fire truck for $250 better price than $900 dynacorn/goodmark replacement.i have made some progress on rear supension. 4 link crossmember is welded in. i mounted 6" hoop up top for 2 reasons: 1: i recieved wrong drop by mistake and it would have cost price of it or more to ship back.(wont see anyway)2. dropped hoop might scrape in a sloped spot in my driveway.9" housing is sand blasted end tapped in ready for welding. lower coilover mounts are on and set at 10 degree angle using tubing shock simulator. upper shock crossmemeber and track locator next then rear almost done!lots of measuring.

Re: 1956 3100 build

I had that Alston's Chassisworks suspension in a previous truck and plan to put it in my '56 soon. It's a great suspension that handled great and had a really nice ride.

You should be pretty happy with that choice.

Re: 1956 3100 build

went to a local car show recently and got my motivation back. have to start back at finishing rear suspension soon. scored a really decent and complete Camaro subframe on the weekend.gonna do front old school way. lots of good info here so far and have no limit video. I have been on the fence about the Camaro vs mustang ii due to fact of weight of going with a big block and ac. the Camaro clip wins. if anyone looking for some aftermarket mustang ii see ad. got some sheetmetal cleaned of old paint and rust. usual bottom of front fender rust.
