Oil bath air cleaner pic request

I am looking for a good or better pic of this air cleaner decal. i already painted mine and the old decal was lost. I am looking to have a member remake it for my air cleaner and he needs a pic that is larger that hasn`t been downsized. Thanks, in advance, Rod.

How does "oil" keep the filter clean?

Re: Oil bath air cleaner pic request

I believe the thought was that dust and such would be attracted to and then trapped in the oil, rather than going into the filter.

Re: Oil bath air cleaner pic request

it is off a 67 327. i believe any model could have had this cleaner just a different bottom for different carbs. i have seen this same decal on 67-72 trucks. the bottom pic is from a 71 longhorn.

Re: Oil bath air cleaner pic request

I actually have this sticker, or the remnants of it when I scraped it off of my oil bath cleaner. If you think it can provide info to you, let me know and I will dig it up.
Plus I have an interest in getting a repro of this sticker, so I will do what ever I can to contribute to the correctness of the repro.

My burb spent most of it's life with it's original oil bath air cleaner, but I took it off when I went through my chrome phase and lost the element. Does yours still have the screen that sat in the oil? This element was a corrugated screen? This screen had a fine fiber all over it, and the oil would soak it and it would trap the dust.

Mine is identical to that, and it had an additional screen that sat in the oil. It provided an extra bit of oil screen to catch particulate, and you just take it out and soak it in gasoline to clean (at least that's how my Dad and I did it way back when).

I have since found it though.

Re: Oil bath air cleaner pic request

I'm taking a risk of being off topic here. But the concept is very applicable. I have a much greater background in air cooled VWs than in Chevy Trucks. But older engines have a lot in common, especially the air filter. The following link is to a man who had many years experience in the automotive industry from the 50s onward. While it was specific to VWs, the knowledge can be used in our trucks. Bob passed away last year. His many years of knowledge will be missed.
