Smile Hood Hinges

hi all, I opened my hood this morning and I hear a pow!!!. I continue to open and the driver side has a broken connector from the hood to the fender mount.so, I welded it back together but couldn't get to the back side. the break is right by the rivet where it pivots. so, do you guys know if the repop hinges are ok? or should I get a used one at our local pick and pull? thanks, BROWN 70

Re: Hood Hinges

The repop hinges on my Burban don't let the hood come down all the way. There is a difference in the short links. My repops have a longer link (about 1/4") than stock. I have gotten a pair of stockers and I am going to send them out to be rebuilt. The PO installed the repops so I cant speak as to what brand they are.

Re: Hood Hinges

You may want to have a look at the The 1967-1972 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Parts Board and perhaps get some used hinges and scrub and paint them. I don't know if he still has the hinges, but member too much stuff has an active sale going on right now titled "Remains of a 68 2wd chev just parted".

Re: Hood Hinges

thanks guys, looks like I be at the wrecking yard to see if there are any left. I only need the drivers side, the passenger seems ok. my hood shuts really good so I don't want to mix and match. the driver side got tweaked after the link broke and I continued opening it. but it still shuts good, its just not going to last very long. thanks for all the info, BROWN 70

Re: Hood Hinges

A few years ago I bought OEM hood hinges from the local Chevy dealer in Tucson. They were not NOS, but made more recently by GM for vintage trucks. Check out the dealers, they may be back.

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
