Its a long way to the top, if you want to rock & roll

Whats up everyone, my name is Cory, and im going to write a little about my truck. My truck, has brought me joy and good times () but more importantly I have found a new passion for wrenching on my ride.

This will be a build thread / journal for my truck and any other thoughts I have.

Originally I purchased my truck on craigslist, with intention of having a bada$$ motorcycle hauler. After I drove it around, (my first american sb v8) it was a feeling of love. I consider myself lucky to have purchased my truck semi built up. A little bodywork was done, it was half primer half rust. I took the truck to a small metal yard where one guy did all my bodywork + installed a CPP gas tank and painted the truck a nice 2 tone (70 something vette blue / custom cream). she needs a color sand and a few coats of clear to be on point... ok, to the fun stuff. about 2 weeks ago I drove down to the CPP showroom and purchased the lowering + handling kit, 2/3 drop. I want to slam the truck on air ride but that will come later in life. here are some pics.

parts

rear end

19gal. allum gas tank

rear shocks&springs installed

adj. trackbar

simple bolt on stuff is satisfying for the novice builder, and yes the rear bumper is upside down, sporty? i think so, I'm getting tired of the look and I'm going to flip it in the near future. The rear tires are soo close to the inner walls, they are 275s so I need spacers or some metal work done to tub out the fenders. I was think I could tub the fenders and do the bed at the same time to save headache down the road. Next swap meet i'll be looking for caps & rings or new rallies all together.

Please ask questions and pick my brain if i cant come up with an answer I'll have learned something from you asking. have a good day and happy Halloween!

Nice looking truck. I can't even see your rear bumper to say if its up side down or not. hahaha

Re: Its a long way to the top, if you want to rock & roll

Everytime I look at these trucks I think the front bumper is upside down from the factory. One of these days I need to flip mine over and see what it looks like. I would love to see a better pic of your rear bumper.

Hey your rear bumper is up side down. Has a unique look to it too. Almost appears to give you more ground clearance.

Are those pics after the drop? I thought it would be lower. That is a good looking truck.

Here is a pic before the drop, with a fresh coat of paint. Which reminds me I need to get a cover for my truck. Any suggestions?

the bike is a 97 YZF1000R Thunderace

Thanks for all the feedback! You guys have some sweet rides big compliment

My bed is out of alignment so to speak, I'll post a pic soon. I need to either get some wood and make my own bed or look into some wood bed kits. The truck sits now with a few pieces of plywood and stock bed trim. At this time I would like to widen/tub the fenders. Going to check out specs come up with a design and find someone who welds. Finally, I'm going to look into getting a pair of bumper guards.

Thanks for stopping by!

Damn that thing was a mile high. I bet you could look down and see those short shorts and low tops riden in the hondas as you crused by. I guess your out of the mile high club now.

The bumper gives it some personality if you ask me. Something that makes people take a second look and wonder. Whether they like it or not they must take a second look.

Wheel and tire combination gives it that old school Winston Cup look.

Paint the wheels gold!

Cool rig...I am a fan of factory/stock appearance, but if you like it...that is all that matters. Please keep us posted of your progress.

Here is a link to board sizes for our beds. I am not an agent of this company, nor do I profit from them. I post this merely as a resource to assist in saving money and keeping out trucks rolling .
