Question side markers on a 69 gmc

HI all,

I have a question for you.
I started to tear down my 69 gmc yesturday and was surprised that side markers had no light in them of even access for a light.
The markers that I took off had the year of 67 molded into them.
and there are no wire's hanging about.

So this now has me thinking of filling these holes, as well as smoothing the side's but since I live in california is this legal as a daily driver.

Any way thanks for your help.

Regards,

Mike

Technicly, you need them.
however, I highly doubt anyone will ever notice them.

Ive owned a few trucks that only had the side lights as "reflectors" They seem to have been an option package on most models. I think the non lighted ones were on the basic C/10 C/20 trucks. Just my 3.8 cents worth

When the PO did the work on my 69, he painted lexan to match. I don't know weather it is legal or not. If anything I would say to do it right and weld in new metal. 1) It looks way nicer, 2) If any cop ever wonders about it you can say well where is the hole for the reflector......Obviously these trucks didn't have them stock.....

68 had an option for side markers, and if you got the daulie rear axle, you had to get side markers and roof clearance lights. They were an automatic option.
The lights became standard in '70.
