2 Great build ideas input please
OK first of all, these are my favorite cars/trucks ever...I have a nice 69 that is just a real slick ride, but i have 2 ideas that have been lingering on me for about 3 years the 1st is an all out rat rod, with a 283 or 327 4 speed, bagged, lug wrench shifter, cop car hub caps, road sign bed floor, primer brown or flat black,
the 2nd is one that i hope no one steals my ideal on... the plan is take a 71/72 SWB 2WD, equipe it with every option and dealer add on... intergrate cadillac equipment from the same era.. have custom made emblems for the grille and fenders. have a custom caddilac tailgate band.. leave this thing stock hieght. with cadallic hub caps from a similar model. and also adding a vinyl top which was a dealer add on back then. one that not alot of people know about tho.........any thoughts on the 2 ideas?? and things you think i should add to them, i have a start for the rat even have an ole 283

Re: 2 Great build ideas input please
I like the idea of the 71/72 with all options thing, that would be cool, if you're going with some cadillac features with that, why not throw a caddy mill in there too? I know some guys on here have done that motor swap. You've got some good ideas perkin' there, I'm sure a few of us on here might add to your plans, good luck, Lew

Re: 2 Great build ideas input please
put the Caddy motor in the rat-rod and make the shifter about even with your shoulders. add some wicked lake pipes with flame throwers and have at 'er.

Re: 2 Great build ideas input please
The caddy motor for both truck is an ideal... and as far as the caddy truck goes i want this to look just like something that could have been built from GM in 72,
and as for the Rat....i just want something is so radical that it doesnt even make sense

Re: 2 Great build ideas input please
Come on if you are going to go with the Caddy equip you have to add the huge Caddy fins to the tops of the bed sides and have your tail lights run from the dual bullet lens and shave off the stock tailgate lens.

Re: 2 Great build ideas input please
I think having a cadilac truck, as if GM made one, would be real unique. Nice plush leather seats and all the fixin's

Re: 2 Great build ideas input please
It's going to be hard to improve on the factory look of these trucks. It's like trying to improve on a Leonardo da Vinci, or a Vincent van Gogh, or a Pablo Picasso, or a Rembrandt van Rijn, or a Michelangelo Buonarroti. How can one improve on perfection?
Just my .000000000000000002 cents worth.

Re: 2 Great build ideas input please
Pics of my roach truck --- if i bag it, fix the floor pans and hop up the motor, i will call it a rat, but until then .................... its a roach
then again, maybe Moon and Clay Smith decals will make it a rat ubiquitous 4 spd I6 combo, -- have a 307 on a stand with vintage finned valve covers, rams horns, etc. that would look good in it, but the 6 still runs good, so why bother. The later buckets will get used for something else if i ever get some more foam for the original seat Possibly the coolest part, -- genuine Western Auto external 26 gallon fuel cell with small tool area above -- my fuel sending unit is a long wooden stick My personal idea for this truck would be to bag it hard, fix the floors/rockers/cab-mounts, clean up the greasy motor - replace the body/suspension mounts with urethane pieces, and then just leave it alone ---- but my heart isnt in it -- i have too many other projects that trump this one, but if i get to it before the trend dies - then it'll be fun |

Re: 2 Great build ideas input please
The Caddy truck would be something that will take alot off research and money to build.. and the reason i want a rat is so i can have something im not afriad to take on a back road and run the piss out of it, like with my blue truck we have so much money and time in it that i dont get to enjoy it.......
