suspenion lift
I have a 84 suburban 4x4 with a 6.2 liter diesel in her.I want to put a 6 or 8 inch suspension lift in it,I need to know what kind of modificatoins I will have to do such as will I have to lengthen the drive shafts,steering geometry,brake lines axle angles,etc.it is a half ton and I would like to put 35s or 38s under it.please help and be very informitive since I'm a shadetree mechanic thanks to all who reply.

dieselburban, welcome to 67-72.. its a good site.. with a 6-8" suspension lift you will have to lengthen driveshaft, adjust linkages, correct steering geometry with a drop pitman arm (there are a few other ways as well)..i am certainly not trying to take anything away from this site, but you might consider taking a look at www.coloradok5.com. i think you will find the info you need there.

on my 87 i havent had to replace any thing beside the pit man arm if u run blocks in the rear the have the angel cut in them as for brake lines they come with a thing that puts them under the frame instead of throw the frame i have 9 inch lift but 3 of that is body

I have An 82 gmc 4x4. I want to do a 4" lift. will I still need to change the pitman arm?

Yes you need to put a dropped pitman arm on. If you dont your steering wont be right. And shocks. Theres lots of guys here than can help you with a lift. Myself I wouldn't go bigger than 35's with half tons, Burbs are pretty heavy. Theres a good chance you wont have to do anything to the shafts. Just wait and see.

This truck is a half ton. it is also a 6.2 deisel. Is anyone familiar with these cause I want to get a little more get up and go out of it.
