67-72 NASCAR truck

The idea popped into my head to build a truck as if it were a NASCAR Craftsman truck series car from 67-72. I just thought of this idea and wanted to put it out on the "street" to get some feedback and ideas on the best way to do it.

One thought was to get an actual truck series truck and put a different body on it. I don't know how much $$$ that would be or where I'd even find one to buy.

Other ideas was to just start building one like any other project.

I haven't gotten a chance to make up any photochop pictures/sketches of my idea.

Anyways....ideas, dreams, pictures, or actual trucks would be great.......discuss!

Re: 67-72 NASCAR truck

depends on what kinda race or class you are looking to run. that would look awesome in a vintage tribute race. big sway bars and poly bushings would make these trucks handle great even without the ground scraping lowering job.

Re: 67-72 NASCAR truck

There were a couple of threads in the past couple of years about doing just that. I may have started one of them. Some have already been done. I may have a couple of pics stashed. There's a Canadian guy who races a long wheel base stock car truck. His pics have been shown a bunch.

Re: 67-72 NASCAR truck

If that was to appear as a Craftsman ries truck,if they had it back then,it would be built on the factory frame with factory sheetmetal and a big old motor.

Re: 67-72 NASCAR truck

If you do it,do it right. It needs to be from that era.It looks dumb and is too much of an "as if" to run an older body with modern build and stickers. It`s about nostalgia and "what if" from back then,in my mind. They don`t race anything but current body styles, everyone knows that. It`s all opinion, but I can`t see spending what it takes to build a contemporary designed vintage truck that will never race when for way less effort and expense (just like real racing back in the day) you could build something that looks like what could have been.
