Question for you all????

The ramp rat has a old hard lined brake controller in the cab. There is no wires hooked to it. It's tied into the brakes at the proportioning valve. I just finished adding a booster to the drum brakes and want to fix the E brake in this truck.

Does anybody know of something I can put on the old brake line in the cab that would put pressure on the system to use it as a E brake?

You can see the one brake line that runs into the cab.

Sounds like a line lock what you're looking for. Not to say it's a perfect substitute for a mechanical brake, but it should accomplish your goal.

So all I would need to do is take the line loose for the rear brakes at the proportioning valve and run it inside the cab to that valve (picture) and plug off the regular one at the proportioning valve. That shouldn't be to hard to do.

Are do you think I need to use the regular spot on the proportioning valve for the rear brakes and just cap off the old trailer brake line?

This valve would let me set the brakes and let off the pedal the brake lights should not stay on either.

I would get rid of that hard line, plug it off and hook up the manual,cable ebrake

That looks like a line installed aftermarket for trailer brakes ? What's in the truck now as far as a stock parking brake ?

I have nothing as of right now. I would love to have good e brakes but don't know nothing about these big trucks. I don't know if I can find
cables for them. It has the old hand brake lever in the cab but nothing is hooked to it under the truck.

Yea I saw where it said not to be used for a e brake.

I used to drive tow truck some time ago and we used to have those to lock the wheels to help on winch outs . they were constantly in need of rebuild or replace due to internal leaks I don't think I would trust them to use as a parking brake . but if you must try tow truck supplies maybe they improved them over the years been 15 or so years from last time I drove for a living

I used to work on ground support equipment and about 80% of our equipment used Mico (Wabco) brake locks similar to the one davischevy posted. Kind of expensive for an individual to buy over the counter but they are very reliable and can hold a 100k pound push back tractor! They make them in lots of different flavors. They used to make one that you can lock with a key.
Also if you want to be like all the cool kids, you can look up the hydraulic brake levers that they use in rally and drifting cars.
