Question On a 77 P/U; where is the turn signal flasher?

Without getting out all my 77 Info books out does anybody know off
hand where the turn signal flasher is on a 77 Chevy P/U? I assume the
four way flasher is on the fuse panel underneath the left hand side of the
dash panel against the firewall. Thanks in advance-Larry

Ok; I'll look at both places. Now does anybody know the original number
flasher? On the Vettes and Camaro's of that time frame they took a
Tung-Sol 224; I presume the P/U took the same; correct? Wonder if Keith
would know. Thanks in advance--Larry

Its a 552 for both or you can go with a EL12 (electronic flasher) or a LF12 ( loud) or a LL552 ( long life )

Is there a way to add the turn signal flasher wiring to a 1978 that didn't come from the factory with it? The only flasher mine has is for the hazard lamps. The flasher position is present but there is no wiring in the fuse block (truck is 100% stock). What I'm trying to do is remedy the hyperflash I get when I use the turn signals while towing. I read about replacing the flashers with electronic versions, but what do you do when there is no flasher to replace?

I'm not following you.
In one sentence you don't have blinkers, but you do?
When towing?
Not sure why a truck would have none ( factory)

I have normal turn signals with no trailer.

With the trailer the turn signals are very fast.

Comparing your fuse block to mine, I have the upper hazard flasher in place, but there is no lower turn signal flasher on the fuse block. There is not even any wiring going to the lower flasher position. I'll get under the dash and see if I can find a remote turn signal flasher anywhere.

Pop the flasher you have out and plug it in to where the other one goes, if it works, go grab another flasher.

Common side of the road fix if blinkers went out, just pop the hazard flasher and replace the turn signal one. Saved many a ticket or an accident.

I'm kinda like duct tape- no real purpose, but handy to have around.

Re: On a 77 P/U; where is the turn signal flasher?

Get a mirror and flashlight and look under the dash for a can. My '76 Nova had the flasher remote mounted to a support behind the radio. And if I remember right while flipping through Hatzies parts illustation pdf, I saw a similar setup. Didn't pay any attention to if it was for vans or trucks, but it obviously made its way into things other than passenger cars.
FWIW, any original flashers I harvested from the autowreckers out of both pickups and vans was a 224. I liked them since they flashed a bit faster than the hazzard, or electronic flasher.

Alex.

You can't have turn signals without a flasher. It's under there somewhere. Turn it on and listen for it.
