New Dodge Hemi stoplight race?

Anyone race new hemi truck yet? They say 345 hp but what is the torque number and at what rpm? If #s are true seems like with computer mods, exhaust, etc. they could provide a nice challenge.

I was reading in Motor Trend or something....they ran a 15.1 in the 1/4 mile....pretty respectable. It was a 2wd swb standard cab with an auto, BTW. A 4x4 or a ex. cab would be several tenths slower.

I had one snap its pipes at me the other day, but i was in city traffic....it was a 4x4 quad cab so i think i might have been able to take it....

I have a friend with one, he's a true Mopar guy. He hates his! I has a stumble off idle that is driving him crazy, the dealer can't seem to fix it and they tell him a lot of them are that way.

ive smoked two of 'em, one was an extended cad 4x4, and one was a shortbed, single cab. Didn't seem that hard to beat them. But it was alot a reason of the driver probly. My truck runs about 14's

Hmmm. Sounds like the usual Detroit hype. They're using the old hemi head design as an advertising gimmick. Sounds like its so choked up with emission controls, computers and restricted exhaust it can't breathe anyway!

i agree hanssolo, my dakota with the 360 runs low 15's stock. 250 hp with 350 ft/lbs of torque. anyhow, they aren't anything to be worried about.

The real problem with the Hemi right now is the aftermarket hasn't caught up with demand. They are trying to come up with a programmer, but it hasn't happened yet.

Regardless they are about the fastest n/a truck on the market right now. The Chevy SS might hold it's own against it, but that's about it.

Here's a video of an 03 Hemi that went from 3.92 gears to 4.56's. Not bad for a N/A truck...
HEMI Video

Mods are -
4.56's
TrueFlow intake
TCM Mod
new 20's w/ - 305/50/20 tires

I have a 2004 4x4 quad with Hemi - 345HP - Torque is 375lb ft. to answer the question.

I just put a new cold air intake system from K&N, and this truck will snap your head back. 0 - 60mph in 6.8 seconds . Not bad for a 4x4 quad cab.

That's because he lets off. He just put the gears in and wanted some full throttle pulls without spinning the tires or running it up to high.

haha yeah exactly what I said when Dodge came out with the " hemi " or new one I should say...but the old one was brought out by Chrysler. I knew the new one wouldn't live up to its classic older brother...I mean come on. Yes I know...I'm a Hemi guy...lol, but thats just Muscle Cars not trucks. Then I'm a guy. I've heard that the new Hemi isn't even a true Hemi, something about the heads being slightly less than hemispherical. Like you guys said though....to restricted with emmsions. One of the key things about the Hemi was its ability to breath. haha I think its funny... 5.7 Hemi magnum...NO SH%^ , if you have a Hemi it already has oversized valves...stupid people I tell ya. The dual spark plugs per cylinder is probably a good thing though. Plain fact is..nothing will ever live up to the Muscle Cars, its a shame to disgrace them by using there legendary names for p.o.s. new cars and trucks.

I have a couple of Hemi shirts...everybody is like Hemi...its like no not the new p.o.s. the legendary one. One shirt has dodge on it...well the writing is what the decal on the Dodge Charger 500 looked like. Got a 70 'Cuda too but that one says plymouth. Everybody assumes that it is Dodge that made the Hemi.... annoying. So I have to tell them a story of the legendary older brother. lol oh well whats better than talking about cars or trucks and motors?

Little fact that most of you guys probably don't know. The 426 Hemi was never offically rated for power, Chrysler said 425 because they thought that if they told people the real number that they would be afraid to buy it. Samething happened with the LS6 454 Chevelle and I'm sure others. The engineer that built the 426 said that it had 500 hp right from the factory. Which goes along with the newer crate motor Hemi's. 528 Hemi had 610 horse right out of the box. Just trying to prove a point that the new " Hemi " is a piece of junk.

Don't worry I'm not a total Mopar man. I'm driving an all original 1968 Chevelle Malibu next summer. 48,000 original miles, 307 turbo fire(high revving tire roaster), auto trans. lol even carry a couple pictures of it in my wallet. I don't carry girl or family pictures...just cars...lol. Nice ones though.

Oh and I haven't actually raced a new Hemi...the road went from 4 to 2 lanes after the stop light...and I got ahead of him...wasn't an actual race but I wasn't impressed at all by it.

They are actually pretty strong! I ran my buddys 4door 2wd at the track and it went 10.20 eighth mile which is pretty impressive to me! I have been 9.78 in my crew cab 4x4 duramax with just a programmer!

My wife's HO Cummins 6 speed 3.73 short bed 3/4 ton out ran one from a redlight onto the freeway up till 85 and he just got off at the next offramp. He was right next to me and after I hit 4th gear, he never was closer than about 5 truck lengths behind me).

I taught that little hat backwards punk not to rack his exhaust at me.
