I was wondering about running my exhaust. I want it above the frame and I don't have a drop crossmember in it right now. I was think about hedmann elite shorties and then going to a magnaflow on each side like this

Then straight to a turn down. Anybody done this, I am thinking there is enough room, but I am also pretty sure it is going to be super loud. Any help thanks.

How far back are you putting the mufflers/turn downs? It sounds from your post like they're gonna wind up under your cab. I'd avoid doing that if I were you. Noise is one concern but you also gotta worry about exhaust creeping up into the cab too.

This Is How Mine Looks Now, I;m Goind To Move The Mufflers To The Out Side And Sound Deton The Cab This Should Help With The Clerance When I Bag It. Hope This Photo Helps. Good Luck

OK, hmmmm. I didn't even think of the exhaust fumes. Good point. I am going to bag it is why I need it too be above the frame. Maybe I will just break down and buy the Early Classic Drop Member. And then run it thru their holes.

Do a search for exhaust and look for a thread by member 71see10 (or search member 71see10). He has a thread with plenty of pics of the Hedman Elites and his exhaust being tucked above the level of the bottom of the frame. His exhaust was also ran through the trailing arm xmember.

The guys at FullSizeChevy.com all whine about the MagnaFlows are too QUIET...not too loud. But then again, all most of 'em want is to get as loud as possible. I don't thing the MF's will be too loud, and they sure sound sweet. Nice rumble @ idle, and sound powerful when you open 'er up. The dumps WILL increase the volume and lower the tone.

Thought about a cross-over (X or H pipe)? They will help to decrease volume a little, will smooth out the burble, and give ya' 1 or 2 extra ponies...

i had my truck exhast dumped under the bed and it just got so loud i finally decided to re rout it out the side b4 the rear wheels. it has two flowmaster 40 series and long tubes. it was even really loud with dynamat inside the whole cab under the carpet. now its fairly quiet inside with the pipes coming out the side.

I definitely second the X pipe suggestion. One of the best investments I made in terms of bang for the buck.

i believe people hav cut holes into their stock cossmember to fit pipes through.. im not sure though. it seems possible...

I just had mine done on wednesday. I'll bring a camera to work today and post pics Saturday. it runs through the Xmember with a little help from the blue-tip wrench.

On My Truck I Have A Ragged System Connected To Some Ragged Left Over Race Car Headers. I Have A Set Of Rams Ceramic Coated Ready To Go On. I Need The Front Pipes That Connects To The Ram Manifolds And Goes Down Just Under The Cab And Temorarly Tie On To My Current Exhaust. Does Any One Have A Set Of Front Pipes Just Long Enough To Replace Where My Headers Stop That They Want To Get Rid Of? I Just Need Them Till I Get The Cash To Replace The Rest Of My Exhaust.

X pipe will quiet it down some and mellow the tone. Turndowns are cool - it depends on what you're driving over ie, they are very quiet in snow and very loud on concrete. Don't end it under the cab - I did that and all of the people in the truck smelled like gas when we were finished. You could still turn it down before the axle to save space, but get it as far back as you can.

My opinion though. Headers and mufflers and turndowns are quiet enough for me and sound mean. Plus, how many muffler tips have you seen that you actually liked?

Here's a few pics of mine with 2 1/2 and hedman headers,cut thur the cross member,with a h pipe and out the back.Hides all of the exhaust.

I had a man that does fab. work at his home and he also does custom exhaust work do this,he used a plasma cutter.Very clean cut!!!!
