Holley low mount A/C bracket kit 20-159
Just got done installing the low mount Holley A/C mount in the truck. Very nice kit. Bracket is top notch with all hardware included. Instructions were good and gave part numbers for tensioner, compressor and belts that are needed but not included.
About the only thing the instructions could have included was that the bracket should be installed BEFORE the engine is mounted in the truck! (Holley should use that fact as a marketing tactic) It can be done after the fact, but boys is that a PIA! It did clear my eBay motor mount brackets and the frame very well. Now I am just waiting on the sanden type compressor to arrive. If Amazon can get it to me today I will see how it fits.

I have the same setup. Just some advice, when you mount the compressor, put the rear bolts on first. Then tighten the bolts(Allen head) by putting the Allen wrench through the front mounting holes. Once the front bolts are in, it’s a huge pain to get to the rears.

Does anyone know if this AC mount works with Dirty Dingo sliders?

Re: Holley low mount A/C bracket kit 20-159
It would depend on the specific amount of set-back adjustment you use with the slider brackets and what accessory drive system you are using. The further back in the chassis you place your engine, the greater the amount the slider brackets extend towards the front of the engine, so they will encroach into the same space required to install the Holley A/C bracket. Running the Holley bracket at the truck accessory drive offset will give you the most room to work with in regards to fitting with the engine brackets and the Corvette accessory drive offset would provide the least amount.

Re: Holley low mount A/C bracket kit 20-159
@toddoky or Wjesnerjr, do you know if this will work in a 4x4 73-87 truck getting an 6.0 truck engine? Looks like the OP is using it in the same vintage 2wd but I don't know what would be different between the two in that spot that would keep it from working... Already have a high mount bracket that came with my Vintage Air kit (not installed yet) but I'm not a fan of how that looks and would much rather have it down low in the stock location like this.

Re: Holley low mount A/C bracket kit 20-159
engine set back is the key. the closer to the radiator, the better. So far with the eBay mounts, the bracket is clearing everything, but the compressor is not. it is hitting the bracket the motor mounts bolt to. just by 3/4 inch, but enough to stall the project.
My buddy is coming over this weekend and we will remove the bracket and relieve some metal to accept the compressor. stay tuned. unfortunately, I am not familiar enough with 4x4 to say. mine is 2WD.

Adjustable stacked plate type mounts come with an engine height penalty and are far less compatible with low mounted accessory drive components than compact stationary engine brackets are, which is why that design configuration is not used in any of the Hooker Blackheart LS swap systems.

Re: Holley low mount A/C bracket kit 20-159
Very true. My buddy and I lifted the engine. (Not easy) pulled the motor mount bracket and shaved off 3/4 of an inch. Compressor clears with ease. We then realized the compressor would not install into compressor bracket without lifting engine. ( ugh!) This brought on another issue. The motor mount bolt needs to go in from front to back. Couldn't do that after compressor was installed. (Grrr!)

Re: Holley low mount A/C bracket kit 20-159
Decided to go against conventional wisdom and install the motor mount bolt from rear to front. Only problem is the nylock nut was too think and would hit the back of the compressor. (@#$=&%) Went to ACE hardware and found a skinny nylock nut that worked perfectly. Used some wsshers under the bolt head to move it back some.
Works perfectly. 1/16 of an inch clearance but neither are expected too move alot. Installed belt and tensioner and runs nice. Checked wiring and all work well. Next steps are custom hoses and freon charge! Then a cool summer.

I have the dirty dingo sliders on my truck with the motor pushed back pretty good and had none of your issues. Guess I got lucky.

Re: Holley low mount A/C bracket kit 20-159
I know I am bringing his post back from the grave but this is what I think I will swap mine over to.
Currently running the kwik performance high mount setup and having issues with the bel popping of the compressor pulley. Only with AC on and around 5k rpm+ now it seems. I have adjusted and adjusted with no results really. Edit: Well that wont work I have the sd709 compressor which is just a better sanden 508 it seems. Ordered some 0 5mm washer/shims, will try to space compressor back a little. Tried a 2.5mm shim bit it was too much and belt tracked on front 6 grooves instead of rear. May have to look into the high mount Holley if I cant get it right. Just costs more and will still have to run a single belt.

Re: Holley low mount A/C bracket kit 20-159
I used the Alan Grove low mount bracket for my Sanden 508.
it's a fabricated steel bracket specific to the F-body LS1 engine, but it gave a lot of room for getting the AC plumbed in. My motor mounts consist of a ½" thick piece of aluminum drilled to adapt the factory style single bolt mounts, simple and easy. I just had to drill a hole for the bottom bolt on the stands.

I did run the engine quite a bit during the build process. It tracks perfectly fine on the LS1 crank pulley and the tensioner keeps the belt nice and tight. I am very pleased with it because the compressor is almost invisible in the engine bay.

Re: Holley low mount A/C bracket kit 20-159
Alright I am running all truck accessories but looking at the diagrams/measurement of both the ls1 and truck they sit the same distance from crank pulley. Was hoping to not have to trim the frame at all an keep all my same compressor, may need to get some longer lines made up. Already have extra ac hose so would just need fittings.
May have to trim my aluminum motor mount but I remember trimming down some trying to fit the stock ac bracket way back when. So it might be trimmed down enough already. Going to look at it when I get off work and take some measurements and hopefully everything matches up and i can order it tomorrow afternoon. Tired of the belt coming off and/or moving out of the corect grooves with this kwik performance bracket. If measurements dont work out im doing the holley high mount kit. Then no need for new ac lines or charging.

Re: Holley low mount A/C bracket kit 20-159
Measured everything and I would need to notch frame and the ict motpr mount I got more. Just went with the holley high mount.
Have adjusted and shimmed this kwik performance kit too many times, hopefully all the reviews I have read on the high mount holley are correct and womt have these issues.
