Dynacorn trailing arms? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hi everyone! I hope it’s not against the rules or rude to ask a question in my first post (other than the welcome section).

My question is, are the Dynacorn reproduction trailing arms any good, mainly concerned about fitment/correct dimensions. My originals are crusty enough that they should be split, sandblasted, and reassembled- don’t really have time for that and think they still would be suspect.

I would go tubular in I second but I’m doing the full Hotchkiss TVS system. When I called Hotchkiss the rep flat told me that they designed the kit for stock trailing arms and if they thought the arms should be upgraded they would have done so. I’ve read the many debates on this subject and have decided to go with what Hotchkiss recommends.

Getting long winded here! So, any experience with the Dynacorn parts? The only thread I found here was started by someone who said the measurements were off-not good. I also don’t see any used ones that really look decent to me, maybe need to look harder.

Just ordered a set from Holley Classic Trucks. Not sure if they are made by Dynacorn-probably. I’ve mocked up my wheels and am excited for them to be connected to something other than air😉

My new trailing arms from Holley showed up, can’t tell if they are actually Dynacorn or not (probably).

I was initially disappointed because they are visibly shorter/different so I did some measuring.

My measurements are rough but close. Basically the spring mount bolt holes and the front u-bolt holes are 1/4” closer to the front pivot on the new arms. The kick up for the axle mount is about 1/8” lower when measured from the rear u-bolt hole on the new arms. The u-bolts themselves slide right in so that is fine.

Other observations on new arms. The front bushing is removable by hand-not good. The thickness of the material used is the same as the old arms. New arms are held together with 22 spot welds (good).

In conclusion, I’m gonna run them. Figure that the shorter length might actually help center the wheels front to back with a lowered truck- there’s a little leeway to jimmy the axle around as well. Worst case I can shim the front mounts back some.

I’m too lazy to post pics. But if anyone is curious I can.
