sm465 th350 swap

been searching for a while trying to find some hard evidence and must be searching for the wrong thing but my question is how much work would it take to switch a th350 4WD tranny to a sm465 4WD tranny? This will bolt up to a 454. I know about the clutch linkage and all that stuff but I am wondering about special bell housing needed or if I have to change output shafts or not. The sm465 had a 208 attached to the back so I shouldnt have to change shafts to fit the 205 on there? Any info on this will be helpful and sorry if this is a repost or subject that has been beaten to death on here (new to the forum)

I am by no means the expert on swaps like this but if you repost over in the 4x4 section, you might get a quicker response.

Ditto, I think that the 4x4 guys would be able to help you out, either way here is a bump for you

Re: sm465 th350 swap

The toughest part is the clutch pedals/linkage stuff and the engine position/driveshafts issues. The easiest thing would be to find a board member in your area that wants to swap their setup for yours. Then you both would have all the right parts... SM465s and NP205s are pretty easy to find.
